Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

This makes my head hurt and my heart hurt. We had special prayer for Bob at our BRG supper on Saturday night and we will keep him in our prayers. He is a rare jewel among men and riders.

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

Do we know which hospital he is in? If he is in ICU, I assume that visiting hours are very restricted and that family is using up what it available. Am I correct?
He is currently in Memorial Hospital, Hixson, TN in ICU room 7. They plan on moving him to a Hospice facility Monday or Tuesday. Ethan and I went there today to visit and they welcomed us and Bob was alert and happy to see us. I am working on a post and will let you know a little more shortly...

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

Had a visit with Bob today in ICU, and any of you who know Bob know how tough he is. That being said it made accessing his condition difficult. He was mentally alert and recognized every one of his family members and the two of us from ST-owners. He was very happy to see the two of us, especially Ethan… I thought the man was going to jump out of his bed! He is still on forced oxygen. They are trying to wean him off other medications (pain and blood pressure), to get him ready for hospice care. There was some talk about ultra sound of his kidneys and another look at his lungs… His renal numbers are still not good.
I plan on visiting again very soon… maybe just after he is settled in hospice care. Had a good hours visit today, but that wasn’t enough… love him like a brother.
I feel he has not fully accepted the condition he is in as of yet… in the next couple of days as he is moved and realize hospice is taking over, it’s anyone guess as what his emotional state will be. He is tough, but he is also tired. Just keep praying for Bob, that the good Lord will intervene and cure him of this affliction. If that is not the Lord’s will, then let it be that Bob find peace with God.
Pray for him!

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

Thanks Vinny and Ethan for taking the time to visit!

It is clear God gave Bob a gift of treating people in a special manner ... may God allow Bob more time to do that! :pray1:

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

Thanks Vinny for the update. I'm sure you two were a sight for sore eyes for him, and that he enjoyed every minute of your visit. I am planning on riding down sometime this week. Will wait to see where he ends up. Usually, at least around here, hospice care is done in the patients home. That probably depends on the care required. At any rate, my plans are to leave Wednesday/Thursday. Have to just wait and see.

Haven't heard anything from Tony tonight, but it's still early.

Reading all these posts brings tears to my eyes. I've turned into such a sobbering slob as my vintage has increased. Even now, as I think of how much Bob has/does mean to me, I'm having to fight back the tears. I'd cuss about now, but don't want to be banned.

Keep us updated, as I will too.

Good night.

John. you are not alone in these feelings.

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

My heart is so heavy right now, it hurts.

Bob is one of several people who made my first ST event memorable, by making me feel so welcome.
Earlier this year, we had a great visit at his home, then riding together to FerrySToc. I've always enjoyed every minute in his company.

Thank you Vinny and John for keeping us updated.

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

It pains me to no end that this wonderful person is headed to hospice. I will not stop praying for a miracle.

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

I keep checking this thread looking for some good news, but what I see is a bunch of Bob's friends doing same thing.

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

Good gloomy morning all.

I got a text from Tony late last night, but somehow I deleted it. My bad.

It did say that they took the bypass machine off, and Bob is now using a regular oxygen mask. Also, that they had discussions, with the Doctor about his upcoming hospice care. Not much else.

Sorry for my screw-up...John

Re: Prayers needed for my buddy, Mr. Donaldson

Thanks John and Vinny for keeping us updated on Bob. I'm thinking about riding down Thurs. or Friday to visit him. Continued prayers for Bob!
