Itchy Boots

She does everything by herself, including shooting and editing the video. She says it takes her about 8 hours of editing for the 15-20 minute video we see.

Does anyone know what drone Noraly is using?

According to the Season 3 Gear page at itchyboots.com:

Drone
Just like in Season 2, I am using the DJI Mavic Air drone to film my aerial footage. This drone is small enough to fit in my motorcycle’s tank bag. I carry 4 batteries with me, so I can last a few days without having to charge the drone batteries.

Are there similar stats for FB viewings? She has also mentioned an Instagram account (Greek to this boomer) and I think there some sort of metric she can see but dunno for certain. She's obviously very social media savvy.

Noraly heads back to the Netherlands. Shame she decided not to do any of the Atlantic Way or the Trollstigen in Norway because of the rain.

This is probably the last travel video for awhile. :( We shall see what she has in store for us in the next few months.

I agree.

The Netherlands and Belgium are have a really bad time with COVID right now. It is so bad in Belgium, they are asking Doctors who are infected with COVID to keep working so they can manage the influx of patients.

France, Germany, Spain and Italy all have curfews and/or lockdowns. Noraly would have to get through all of that to enjoy the winter sun in Greece or North Africa.

As I watched her video, I totally understood why she didn't record some of it. I can ride all year long and only miss a few days for snow. But once the rain comes, the "fun" trips go away, and my riding is commuting where I have to go, not where I'd love to go.

Plus, rain gear only works for awhile. If you get the kind that would last through a Nor'easter, then you'll sweat on the inside and get soaked. Get Gore-tex and it'll work for hours, but 10 hours per day, day after day, and eventually you'll get wet on the inside as well. Commuting in the rain is one thing. Traveling all day as she's doing, ...well, I have to admire her for what she's been able to do so far.

+1 She said she's going to work on projects for her site some of which I'm guessing is merchandise as well as content. It's really tough for her to ride and work as she's said.

So unless she takes some getaway time I think videos will be very far and few between. I really got used to seeing 2 or 3 videos a week. Spoiled actually. I liked watching this even though there wasn't the typical content. Even the "mundane" stuff is interesting when served with pleasant presentation. Though I will say I prefer eggs over medium or scrambled.

Noraly uses a DGI Mavic Air drone in Seasons 2 and 3. The Air has three Follow Me modes so unless she says she never uses any of them it looks like she uses at least 2 if not all three 3. There's still some control needed as she rides of course. But she'd have to be very good at series-tasking and maybe she is. My takeaway — I really want a Mavic Air 2. And maybe a Mini to keep it company.

In one of her interviews, Noraly said she manually controlled the drone wile riding.

I have a DJI Mavic Pro. I have tried the Follow Me mode in a large parking lot with my bike and did not work. I'll have to try it again to see if the updated versions work better.

I've seen a few YT videos where it's worked really well but I don't recall what drones were used but they Mavics of some kind.

If she's using zero auto-modes whatsoever then she's got some mad skills especially when the drone circles her while she's riding.

Here's a video of a Mavic Pro in Spotlight mode. He's on ice skates but he mentions using Spotlight with a car or skateboard.

I so want a drone. (I just won't fly it in Canada.)

Yeow!

I remember her saying that as well. I also think she’s riding a lot slower in the drone shots too. The maximum speed on my Mavic mini is 29km/h and that’s in sport mode, It’s hard to do smooth video in that mode. I also have a cinematic mode which is 1/3rd the speed and very smooth. When she’s riding in the drone shots I think it appears she’s riding faster than she actually is. The field of view plays a part in it, The higher the drone is, more area is covered and the drone doesn’t really have to keep up to keep the rider in the shot, so it is easier to manually control the drone whilst riding as not as much input from the rider is required to stay in the shot.
ST Gui, the video of the skater, I believe he was controlling the position of the drone whilst he was skating. He had it locked on himself so no matter where the drone was flying it was the camera that was locked on him.
On the Mavic Air you can program way points and lock the camera on an object, which is a feature I wished the mini had, but because there are no sensors on the mini that feature isn’t available.
When she uses the selfie stick when riding I also suspect she isn’t riding super fast. I say this because I tried it a couple of times. Once on the ST the other on the Vespa. The Vespa footage was far better, more control and I was doing between 50km/h and 60km/h. It also looks like you’re going faster than you are. When I was on the ST it was hard to control the stick because of wind resistance at 80+km/h

Noraly posted to FB
Yes, she pasted the same on Instagram. As you cannot delay the visibility of your postings on FB and Instagram, this means she has been in the Netherlands for about two weeks. Noraly said that the episodes for Season 3 would be two weeks behind her actual progress rather than almost every day as in Season 1 & 2. Belgium and the Netherlands have some of the highest per capita COVID cases per day in Europe. Hope Noraly has somewhere safe to stay in Utrecht.
