Where did you ride today?

2nd post maintenance ride this a.m., all the way down to 59 F., same as the Pacific ocean water temp....ahead of the rains. Rode the PV loop. Nice and breezy. GT5 tires and brake pads breaking in. OEM saddle T minus 5 weeks before it becomes a fitted RDL saddle.

You can see Catalina in the background.

Was a very nice day today and been busy with grandkids and other Christmas preparations these last many days so decided a ride was in order. Took a short 45 mile ride around the local rural roads. Very little traffic. Temp started out at 51*F and mostly stayed there all the way around. Looked at the digital thermometer at home and noted it agreed with the bank temp sign down the street at 46*F when I returned even though the bike temp indicator was still showing over 50. Temps are always a bit warmer on the road than off. Felt warm and comfy with just one thermal liner installed in the jacket. No electric heat yet, not even close (that doesn't get turned on until it reaches freezing temps). Still finding the AlpineStars Air Plus v2 Gore-Tex XCR boots to be plenty warm at this and even colder temps. Have worn these down to below 25*F without being cold... but then my Burgman 650 has phenomenal foot and lower leg weather protection so I see no need for warmer boots.

I was feeling a little out of sorts but it was so nice, in the 50s, that I cautiously dragged my butt on to the bike and set off to the city on my way to my twisty loop.
I could see my exit was backed up several light cycles. I was not up for dealing with that. Pass. Next exit pass. Next exit backed up a mile, pass. Next exit worked no waiting.
Aborted the city thing turned around. Slabbed 70 miles. Easy exit in rural Ohio.
Off to a nice picnic spot.
The water was so still.

Turning to ice has that effect.
Through the gentle scenic twisties next.

Then signs of good things to come.

Sure enough,

Not feeling 100%, I took it all pretty gently today, felt really good though.

Temps dropped in to the 30s halfway through the ride.

Later I was getting pretty tired so I stopped at another favorite spot. A reservoir.

Yes, it was dark and quiet, a good place to recharge for the final miles home.

I feel better than when I started out.
All in all an outstanding 270 mile day.

McDonalds, eight miles round trip.
37F, frost on the ground, breath-taking sunrise with the moon.
...ahhhh

Christmas shopping - have to love the ST luggage space. From home to Llandudno, then down to Rhug for a bison burger.

Just getting ready to leave Rhug, about an hour to home. Looks like it'll rain too.

Actually last night.
Another opportunity to turn a 1.5 mile round trip to Arby's (dinner while my wife entertained a few of her friends and I have a gift card for there) into a short 12 mile ride to get there. It was dark after 6 pm so didn't really want to go far out in the country. Of course that's where the better riding is anyway. Temps were in the mid 40s F so no need for the extra liners and electric heat yet. Expecting Christmas Day to be around 56F, more than 20 deg warmer than normal!

@Daboo , what were you doing at the prison?

Got a short ride in to church last night for the Christmas Eve services. Beautiful...both the ride and the service. Came home, and the temp had dropped to 37F. Stayed nice and toasty.

I rode my 91 ST from Mooresvill Indiana to Trafalgar Indiana it is about a thirty mile round trip. It felt great to be out on the bike on Christmas day..

Nearly 600km today, a loop from my Auckland home down SH22 to Raglan and the through Pirongia and Waitomo, back around to the Kawhia Harbour and then home. Gave the tyres, suspension and brakes a good workout on the wonderfully twisty roads, and enjoyed dry sunny weather with a high of 26C. The mighty 1300 with it's Raceteched-ed front end and Nitron back end is quite a weapon.

I rode out to Damascus House this morning as the sun was coming up. Temp was 26F at one point.

No pictures, but it was a nice country ride to the halfway house for drug and alcohol addicts. I shared the Bible with the men for about an hour and a half. Great time.

Weather still nice today. High around 44F. Rain expected tomorrow and maybe snow just after that as temps drop the next few days. So decided one more ride before the end of the year.
Actually my wife suggested I should go for a ride just as I was thinking of it. She doesn't usually suggest that.
Took a different route than I've been before for about 40 miles. Same roads I've been on at different times just changed the combination of roads taken a bit. Temps stayed around 44F all the way around.
Still not cool enough for extra liners or electric heat. I'll start adding those about 10 deg lower.

sirbike,

where is this road? I live in Geauga County and I'm wondering how far this is from me. By the way, I occasionally see a guy on a black ST in my area and I'm wondering if it's you. The last time I saw him, he was at an ice cream place in Parkman.

Somewhere between Leesville and Lisbon on route 164.
My destination road that is part of variations on a loop theme that is about 200 miles, about 4 hours, when I want to exercise my focusing abilities. There are a few blind apexes. Sometimes I slow down and take in the beautiful scenery along the way.

No ice cream for me.
I am usually commuting west of Welshfield on 422 on a black, sometimes on an 03 and occasionally passing through Parkman on 88 on relaxation rides.

STacy went to downtown Seattle, specifical Pike Place Market to see the news paper and magazine venue that closes on 31 Dec 2109 after 70 years of business. Sadly, the store was yet another analog victim of our digital world. STacy's rider has frequented that store for 25 years.

I got to ride it about 30 feet after rolling it out of the shed. Not exactly the most thrilling ride. I had to rearrange the mower/bike/generator/snow blower layout in anticipation of snow (eventually). Had to make the snow blower accessible until construction on the third garage is finished.

But I started my winter projects. Mounted my MCL blades, cleaned up some wiring and today I plan to remove my Two Brothers cans and install Delkevics. It's not going to be easy to decide which I like better.

Went for a brisk 7 a.m. ride, 49 F.. Beanie under the helmet, liners in. Everything good except the windshield took 40 minutes to defog and clear. Next ride with the Frogg Toggs. Maybe a little rain x applied to windshield.... :shrug2: :confused1:
