Where did you ride today?

I went out for a ride to work, but got T-boned along the way. It's a sad day for me and the (recently bought) ST1300. waiting for an adjuster to come out and look at it so I can get it back on the road again.

Sorry to hear it. So long as you are okay... bikes can be replaced, if it comes to it.

The weather here finally got better. Insured my ST and took it out for a ride to the country side. Spring is definitely here, all I could smell was manure from the farms. It was beautiful and sunny, 70F. Still have half of a tank of stabilzed gas to burn off, but my stomach is telling me it was time to go home for dinner. Here is a pic of Mount Baker in Washington State from the Canadian side.

Wow! So grateful you are ok!

Went to Borrego Springs via Banner Grade this morning to see the wildflowers. Nice display this year, about the same as two years ago. Not too warm. 185 mi. RT.

That field full of people, are they just there to take pictures of flowers? I'm confused . Doesn't take much.
Nice piccies, thanks for posting.

Upt' North: yep, people come from all over the U.S. and other countries to see the wildflowers this time of year. Some years the flowers are a bust; others they are make an absolutely spectacular display. Just depends on the combination and timing of rainfall and heat. The park services even issues forecasts for the "amazingness" of bloom. This year's is quite good, but there have been better.

I followed the Park Service advice in New England many years to see the leaves die, I think the flowers coming to life sounds better. Nature's great innit.

Made a quick sunset run out to move the NA Wildcard tag. Given what the midwest and Canadialand has endured this winter I hate to complain, but even with the ST's wind protection and supposed heat issues (HA!), 41 degrees and dark is COLD when you don't have heated gear. I donned my emergency extra warmth layer when I stopped for gas and a darn good thing it was- I've been back for half an hour and am still shivering with a deep chill. But it was all worth it, just for the ride.

Went to the prison again yesterday. Normally, it takes me about 25 minutes to get there. Yesterday, it took me an hour.

:) Instead of heading east to Monroe, I headed north to the Lowell-Larimer road. Then south on that to High Bridge Road and continued on the West Snoqualmie Valley Road to Duvall. Then, I turned north and headed to Monroe and the prison.

Went to the North Cascades Hwy today. It's not open all the way, but the ride to the part that is open was wonderful.

I know those roads...!! The weather looks fantastic.!!! A good day in the PNW...!

The weather was good, but variable. In places like Darrington, the area is shaded by some tall forest so the snow hasn't melted. With the shade and the amount of snow still left, the temp dropped to 48F. But in open sunny places, it was 80F.

Even though the entire highway wasn't open, it was a fantastic ride. The highway leading up there on Hwy 530 and 20, is beautiful farmland with twists and turns all along the way. With the pass still closed, the only traffic was locals. Once I got into the North Cascades National Park itself, the only traffic there was from people working on the dams.

The highway was closed at Colonial Creek Campground, so I walked the last couple miles to the observation point. I almost liked it better that way. No one else, except about three couples were there and those I saw on the road leading to the observation point. I walked all around up there with no one else to disturb the silence.

Joined in a group ride to then coastal town of Raglan and back today and hooked up with a decent group of riders on an Aprilia Dorsoduro, MT-09 and a Ninja 636. This was my first decent "sporting" outing on my 1300, and I have to say I was delighted with the way it went. This was a 330km trip on excellent twisty and bumpy empty roads and it gives any bike a serious workout. The 13 was great, super stable and easy to push, my only complaint would be a lack of ground clearance when pressed. I never had much of an issue on the 11 but I think the chassis of the 13 encourages much quicker riding. Today's casualties included both peg feelers, the centrestand and the lower fairing on the left. All these occurred on compression dips while leaned over, so I have wound up the rear preload to near max and will look at adding some more preload to the front as well. Or possibly riding slower. It's a great joy to chase a guy on a sportbike and watch the physical contortions, whilst I'm sat in luxury just behind! It was as hot as 26C today but the engine heat was not such a bother today with the inner fairings removed, and the tank never seemed to get too hot.
