That was hard with my cell phone!Love the pic of the eagle....
Congrats Terry. Excellent color. Have a good time.Well I did thing and bought a nice ST1300, and now have my 1100 (and other bikes) up for sale. This 1300 is an 09 model and fitted with Sargent seat, factory top box, Nitron shock and Racetech fork internals. Just for S&G the bike was located in Invercargill (home of Burt Munro/World's Fastest Indian) which is a LONG way from home. I set off at 0430 Friday to the airport and one plane change later got me to Invercargill by 11am, then I did the deal, gave the bike a quick pre-flight, loaded up and headed off. First stop was fuel and tyre pressure, PO had been using sportbike settings 29/33psi! What was he thinking?
After that it was non-stop for 360 km to Twizel for fuel (getting used to the tank/range), then Geraldine for snack, and finally to my brother in law's house at Rangiora by 7pm (690 km ridden in total). A few rehydrating beers and a bite to eat and shower and I was in bed, then back on the road at 0330 for a night ride to the ferry terminus at Picton arriving there by 0730 (317km). Got off the ferry in Wellington at 1230, and headed north, fuel at Levin and again at Cambridge, the the final leg home arriving at 8pm (another 660km). All in I rode 1667km, what fun, the lack of sleep was a bit of a bummer.
First impressions of the 13 are that compared to the 11 it is fast, revs quickly and has a bit more of an angry snarl. The 11 is a softer and gentler engine that is better at low revs, the 13 really gets its skates on once the speeds are up. The 13 brakes are a huge leap forward and the stiffness of forks and chassis can really be felt once the pace is up, where the 11 gets a little flexxy when pushed. The electric screen is magical giving an option of a cooling breeze or total protection. Fuel consumption seems a little better than my 11 as well, 18km/L vs 16 for the 11. My only negative is the heat, I was riding in 26C yesterday and really suffering around my thighs, but below 22 it's no issue so will be tapping the assembled experts for a solution. The bike also only came with a single ignition key so I need to get a second one sorted.
If anyone has helpful suggestions for the key and heat I'm all ears.
And of course POIDH!

Saddened to hear of your 'incident'.I went out for a ride to work, but got T-boned along the way. It's a sad day for me and the (recently bought) ST1300. waiting for an adjuster to come out and look at it so I can get it back on the road again.
As long as you're ok, that's all that matters.I went out for a ride to work, but got T-boned along the way. It's a sad day for me and the (recently bought) ST1300. waiting for an adjuster to come out and look at it so I can get it back on the road again.
