Where did you ride today?

Rode yesterday to White River Lake for hamburger basket. Closed until January 2. Circled around to Dickens, TX and had a BBQ sandwich at TC's Ponderosa store (TC stands for Tom Cat, I grew up with him). Place was packed with folks having BBQ. Got my sandwich and went to the roadside park east of town, woofed it down and headed home. If you get to Dickens you can't miss this place. Population under 300.

Would make a good RTE for those of us who don't live within an hour of the metroplex. 3.5 hours from Texas Motor Speedway, just take Texas 118 west and you are there.

Had to really hammer down to get home before dark. Proud the days are getting longer.

Alberto I like seeing the riding pics from everywhere around the world also so give us more!

It was a pretty good day here for a last ride of the year. Temps where 51 to 65 on my ride about today. I went up to Stockton again for some reason and then crossed the 5 rivers that all end and create Mobile Bay in ALABAMA and then back to the house.

I said I'd ride 123.123 miles today but I got excited by the good temps and did 160 miles. I even got a pic at the giant beaver (Buc-ee's gas superstore) stop in BAMA! They have 120 gas pumps at this location. Across the road was close enough today with all the holiday tourist stopping there.

Ha, I was inspired by you Raymond, I went 183, tried to photo the 123 odometer, highway and all, didn't work out. Saw all this though.

It was 2 degrees warmer around here today Mike. I saw 68.9 today and enjoyed all of the 60's temps today for sure. Good ride for the first day of the year. I rode through the Blackwater River State Forest up into Bama and then westish back down to Walnut Hill FL area and home.

A few roads just south and north of the FL/GA line riding the 2024 Penguin Ride To Lunch with the local chapter of BMWMOA. I had other things to do during and after lunch hour so I left the ride early before the lunch stop. Turned out 35-40 riders for a beautiful day. It was 42F when I left the house and 65 three hours later. 140 miles.

Got out for my first ride of 2024 on January 2. I was thinking of getting out yesterday, Jan 1, but started working on an electrical diagram to add a trailer plug harness to my AK 550 and time got away from me. It was dark before I knew it and so I made sure to get out today.

I rode 63 miles for my first 63 miles to put on the annual miles list. The temp started out about a balmy 38F and dropped to 33F by about half way around at the southernmost point of the ride. Then it warmed back up to around 37F by the time I returned home. I left the heated grips turned off most of the way around but as the temp dropped I turned them on low and left them on the rest of the ride. Otherwise the Kemimoto bar muffs were plenty for the temps. I had maybe 3 miles of city road at the beginning and another 3 miles at the end of the ride but in between was all country roads.

If I had turned left instead of right and taken an even longer way back home I would have been more miles than @the Ferret for just a little while. But I AM ahead of @ardykay54 for the first time in a very long time.

(I know that won't last)

He just doesn't ride as much since he got that 155 mph bike.

I got a ride in today too. Clear down to tourist central in Bama. I crossed the toll bridge at "The Wharf", the end of the Foley Beach Express route in Bama. $5 to ride from the toll both to the side south of the bridge. .8 miles. And another $5 if you go back over it!! They think it's like NYC or something I guess. My first and hopefully last time paying that toll. I'll go the 5 miles around next time. Been there, tried it, didn't like it, done that.

Edit: I'm glad I had my helmet on today. I do 99.99% of the time but I heard something go TICK very loudly today going down the road in traffic. It sounded liked plastic cracking so I looked all over the bike and found nothing. I looked at the helmet and just above the eyebrow there is a good ding that chipped down into the plastic about .030" deep. I'll bet that would have cut pretty good without the helmet on my head.

And I only saw one pirate riding today here in Tshirt - shorts and no helmet. Saw the same yesterday when it was about 50 degrees. YMMV

I went for a quick ride around the neighborhood. Nothing fancy, just a little spin to clear my mind.

I took Nozomi out for a run to NZ's "Nordkapp" equivalent. Any further north and you need a boat. I left home at 0440 under clear and starry skies and reached Cape Reinga by 1000. After a spot of sightseeing, we did a u-turn and headed south through Kaitaia and Broadwood before htting SH 15 out of Kaikohe and then SH16 from Wellsford to avoid the worsening holiday traffic. In spite of it being mid-summer I did contemplate switching on the heated grips when the temp dropped to 9C on the northwards leg, but this was offset by mid 20's on the way home. After 920km of more-or-less continuous riding, we returned home around 1600 for a well-earned rest.
