What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Installed a Fiam freeway blaster. Wow!! What a difference from the anemic stocker
I posted yesterday that I have installed a fiamm freeway blaster horn and I'm just wondering if anybody has installed the freeway blaster(s), dual horn. Wondering if it's possible to fit the two horns under the bodywork. The Fiamms are on sale locally and I'm thinking of getting the high tone to go with the low that I have now

I believe folks have. One horn goes in the stock location and the other on the frame off to the side. I also think they require a relay as to not blow the normal horn fuse.

Yes they will fit under the black plastic cover, I love mine.

Yes, both fit with a little stand-off from the oem bracket.

Best sound is achieved by using a combo package. One high tone and one low tone. Will osund like the ol' 72 Buick your grandparents had.

Great!! I will go pick up the other one tomorrow, thanks

I took my new-to-me ST out for my first real ride and I think I need some advice. I'm afraid I bought a used lemon.

First, it made me late for dinner. I left home at 3:30 and 4hours and 100 miles later I finally came home. I think I somehow got gassed by carbon monoxide or something. I cant explain the lost time any other way. Plus, I think my gas gauge is defective because it says I used less than half a tank. I know that's not right!

Second, I am not sure I like the "mental steering" add-on I apparently have. Six or seven times I remember thinking " I wonder what's down that road?" *poof* Suddenly I'm a quarter mile down "that road" and no idea how. I'm slightly ADD. I'll never get anywhere like that!

And then theres the engine issues. For instance theres apparently no speed between stop light and 45 MPH. Let off the clutch, *BOOM* 45 MPH. I pass through 7 school zones on the way to work. I'm definitely going to get a ticket. Similarly on the highway... I was putting along happily at the legally mandated 55 MPH ( because I'm gig on rules.) Then I got stuck behind a landscape truck blowing grass clippings all over the highway. I decided I would be justified to bend the rules a little to get around him. I signalled, checked my blindspot, and eased to the left lane. I figured 60, maybe 65 MPH would get me safely past. But again, the demon engine decided that a teeny, tiny bump on the throttle should translate into a sudden jump from 55 to 90! And I only realized I was doing 90 because some guy in a Corvette convertible yelled "A**&%ole!" at me as I blazed past him. I had to go three extra exits just to wait for him to turn off so I was sure I would have some sort of confrontation with him.

So I have to ask the ST give mind, how much should I start saving for tires, tickets and possibly, bail.

Any advice appreciated.
TIA!!

I helped my buddy put a camera on his 2005 'Wing. We'll put one on his R1200GS Adventure then on my ST. By the time we get to my ST we should be pretty good at it. :D

I added a USB charging port for my phone and helmet after my long trip. Not too crazy about the readout being on all the time, might change it to key on power, but it'll help me as navigationIMG_2177.jpg kills my phone battery pretty quickly.

Removed all the Tupperware. Replaced the spark plugs. Cleaned up the engine. Replaced the fork seals one side was leaking . Waiting for a new front tire hopefully its here this week.

I have been getting the feeling that all was not "quite right" with the brakes.
Nothing major, the bike still stopped quickly etc. but "just not right".

Removed all 3 calipers.
Freed off 1 x stuck & 1 x sticky outer piston on the rear caliper.
Freed off 1 x sticky outer piston on the front right hand caliper.
Checked the front left caliper and all was well. Dismantled the linkages to the Secondary Master Cylinder and cleaned / lubricated them.

Put it all back together, double checked all the fastenings for correct torque etc. and then took it for a ride.

The difference in "fine control" braking was noticeable.
I ride on small twisty country roads with lots of dips and tight curves and use trail braking etc for stabilising and settling the bike.
It was like riding a different bike :)

A gradual degradation in the brakes performance can certainly creep up on you without you realising it.

All good now though. :thumb:
