What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

I'm in the midst of sewing a new cover for my Corbin saddle. I'm incorporating the leftover wineberry leather I used for my tank bag and tank bra. A little more sewing to do, then comes the task of drilling out rivets, taking off the other red leather cover I made to match the 97 ST. I hope never having to do this again...it's a royal pain....but the end result will be rewarding. ;)

Today was totally cool! Started this morning throttling stop sighns and red lights up newbury st with a porche carrera!
Went to work for a few hours and ggot sick with the dreaded bike fever! Hopped on the highway and drove to worchester. Everyone was speeding as we do here in the boston area. I didnt want to upset the locals, so i sped too! Went thru a speed trap at 85 and the cop didnt blink an eye.
I havent ridden for thirty five years, excluding around 3000 miles on a beemer last year that insisted constant electrical problems, so im having a ball!
A good friend calls my bike the” red coffin”!
Back then, there was t “counter steering” or “ trail braking”. You just got on and rode! There werent four cylinder or water cooled and just a few electric starters back then. So, its all new to me now.
So, im messing with counter steering and think its great. At this point, it feels more mental than physical, even tho i know its physical.
Another thing! Cant say enough about avon tires! Last year i had michelan pilots, and they were all over the place on fraded roads. Today, i was cruising at 75 over graded and had zero concerns.
I just got this bike home a couple of weeks ago and all i can say is that the more i ride, the more i love it.
Im pretty damn happy right now!

Went for brief ride after bike sat all winter - full tank with Stabil and on battery tender . First check tire pressure - perfect front and rear - ignition on - hit starter and lit immediately. It’s like I had only ridden it an hour ago. Amazing .

Not today, but yesterday, 5/2. Went on a ride with a local group here in Chico. Did just under 200 miles in total leaving Chico, riding up through Paradise to Lake Almanor, then back down highway 70 around the backside of Paradise before going back north to Chico. Was a very fun ride on a couple really good twisty roads that allowed me to push myself *slightly* more than usual. Couple squirrely spots where my rear tire skipped a little on gravel, but nothing bad and no crashes.

I have been riding STella to work so today I took STilver out for a couple of hours to give her some exercise. It was 75 degrees and absolutely beautiful.

Installed a new rear tire and front and rear brake pads. I also checked the flange bearing and wheel bearings which are still in good shape after replacement 100,000 miles ago.

I should be good for a little while now! :thumb:

Towards the end of last season I had a slow leak in my rear tire. I found what looked like a small hole in the tread. It didn't seam to leak but I put a plug in it any ways. Still leaked. I put a bottle of Ride-on in it the next day. Still leaked. I took it off and found several small leaks on the bead. This gave me a chance to try my new tire changer. I took it off and the bead on the rim didn't look very bad. I cleaned it up real good with a scotchbrite pad. The tire side of the bead had a bunch of spots with what looked like small holes in it. Finally on a couple of spots I found glass beads imbedded into the tire. I picked all of them out with a small screwdriver, lubed up the bead rear good and remounted the tire. Still had a few spots on the bead that showed bubbles. Aired it up to 55 lbs and bounced it off the garage floor several times. Still leaked. Took it off and mounted a new Shinko Verge. No leaks. I probably had a couple thousand more miles left on the old one but it had 8,000 miles on it anyways. I used beads a couple tires back and most have had a few left on the rim during the last change. They actually made shallow indentations on the rim as well as the tire bead. I'll stick to weights or ride-on for now on.

I had a front tire that had very long rubber nubs, so long they could reach all the way to the rim and got trapped in the bead.

Same as you, slow leak at the rim now.

Breaking the bead and pulling them upright still left me with a little leaks. They had left indentions in the tire carcass where they were smashed in by the wheel.

I wasn't trashing a brand new tire, an experiment ensued and I found a can of bead seal. Worked, ran the tire for its usable life and wasn't too bad to clean up afterwards.

Funny you should mention that I saw the same thing on this tire. I did remove them on the new one I mounted.

Checked all the valve clearances on Blue ST 1995 and all well within the limits. I should have known they were done fairly recently by the gasket goo on the covers...…. Still, that's a relief knowing that they are done.

The reliability of 1300's is unbelievable. Nothing breaks, nothing needs repair. I've been commuting a lot more since the CV19 shutdown. Did do a deep cleaning...wash, wax, treat the unpainted plasticwork, polish the windshield and stainless this morning before the rain started.
