What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Had a nice ride two up through the Borders, lunch at Kelso, coffee and cake at Peebles and great scenery and weather to boot. Life's good at times ain'it.
ST11 run like a dream.
Upt'North.

Was a really unpleasantly wet and windy weekend, so I pulled the fairings and the cam covers and took a look at the valve clearances. Was happy to find that the clearances in my 34,000km-old 2009 are all in spec. I guess that will do until 50000km or so.

Hmmmm... Stateside the book says check every 16,000 miles. Assuming the same interval applies in the metric world, I'd think you should be able to go about 25,000 km between checks.

But, glad yours are all in spec now.

Not with my ST but replaced fork seals and fork oil on my son-in-law's '07 Kawasaki Vulcan last night. This was a first for both of us. Undoubtedly the forks had never been serviced on his bike. We had a helluva scare when the fork spring caps were popped off. The fork spring seats underneath the caps were rusted and pitted. After struggling to remove the circlips, (corroded and rusty) both fork spring seats were "stuck" badly. It took quite a lot of hammering, PB Blaster etc., to break them free. We finally go the job done late last night. We anticipated a 4-6 hour job since neither of us has done this before and it ended up taking us nearly 10 hours. Both caliper bolts were stripped which didn't help our speed because we had to drive around town to source new bolts when all the MC shops were closed here on a Sunday. But in the end, there is that sweet feeling of satisfaction having done the work ourselves.

Replaced the fuel pump on the 2010. I still need to finish putting the screws and fasteners on it before taking it on a 30 mile ride to verify the fuel pump fix.

I bought the fuel pump off ebay for $16. I did replace the fuel filter and the filtering mesh and rubber piece.

This past week my wife and I enjoyed the wonderful twisty roads of Pennsylvania (Pocono area). Died and gone to heaven comes to mind. Pic 1 - dirfted in New York State - Hawk's Nest Hwy 97. Amazing. Pic 2 - a Mac & Cheese burger at Marion Hose Bar in Jim Thorpe. Also turned over 50000km on the ST. Can life get any better?? I feel blessed.242885242886

Confirmed the location of an electrical gremlin!

The front left indicator has been intermittent (not in the good way) for a week or so now. Turns out that it's a loose pin of the connector inside the mirror housing. That mirror housing retaining strap has also been broken for a long time, so the cable probably got pulled...

I'll fix that tomorrow.

I added a Ram mount to the center of the steering column to mount my GPS, now its centered in between the handlebars instead of off to the side! Much Better!242891

I use a 3 cable tie solution to the retaining strap problem.
Exactly the same plan was in my head. :thumb:

If the pins in the connector can't be rectified, I'll replace with bullet connectors. Again, ugly but functional & hidden

Today, I applied the "jfheath approved indicator wire fix" ;)

The negative pin on the female plug was loose, thanks no doubt to the broken mirror retaining strap. It's been like that a while, so it now has bullet connectors instead of faffing with sourcing a new part of the loom.

Ugly, but hidden.

Next job is to find the gremlin causing left headlight issues intermittently, but he's gone into hiding so he can wait.

Turned on the Super Transport mode... took her on a 320 mile round trip to rescue a piece of audio history and provide my home theatre with a little more warmth.
Crest 4001 amp, a classic. She was a good passenger, stayed centered on every turn. Her big brother is waiting to be saved too... a 10,000w beast. At 145lbs (almost 3x hers) he may have to ride a little differently.

Nice amp! Whats the power rating?

Nice amp! Whats the power rating?

8Ω is 300w/ch, stable at 2Ω and 700w/ch.
You can bridge it and get 1400w into 4Ω

This is the amp that put Crest on the map and set the standard for many years.

I would prefer if it was the 240v version, but for $50.... I won't complain.

that would blow my Klipsch Heresey's for sure, keep her throttled back!
