What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

I took a lunch ride with my 'Wing buddy and got the scare of my life. We were out riding some back roads in the Pleasanton/Livermore area casually working our way to CalMoto Livermore. He was booking an appointment for his water-boxer's 24K mile service.

At CalMoto talking to the service manager he was told that it would cost $730. :eek1: He's got the money for a Break My Wallet and he does do his own oil changes. At least splitting riding time between is 'Wing and GS it interval in increased to a slightly less painful level. They'll provide a loaner bike so that's something. But still... :eek1:

Escorted 60 buses through Westminster CA, pretty much taking over the city’s main roads for about 1/2 hour

Ride herd on them dawgies and beeves...

And helped hold up the CA 405 Fwy...

Then, on the way home on the freeways, let this kid on his motorcycle ride on my side almost all the way home. At first he was terrified as I let him pass me when filtering, then he settled in when he knew I was kewl with it when I waved him in to wing me. He was so jazzed.

Last Friday, I was working second shift, when I was called and told that the ST was leaking fuel, and I need to remove the bike from the property. I rode it home, stinking of gas, and parked it in the driveway.

Today, I found a dark line of gas residue dripping down the right side of the bike.
Up, came the tank, and I found that the return line from the pump to the upper tank was compressed and cracked. I found a replacement at Home Depot, and installed it.

That should work for another 132,000 miles...

Was it fuel line from HD? If not you might buy fuel line from an auto parts store.

Right now, my ST is in the shop getting new T31s mounted and spin-balanced with new T-shaped valve stems and the TPMS sensors screwed on, oil and filter, rear-end oil and O-rings, and the right Loctite moly paste. Also checking the steering and swing-arm joints.

I wonder....

Does the first bike’s make that you owned in your youth, set the preference for life?

Did for me. I started with Honda, and still prefer it do today. Wondering if this is true for others...
It did and was for me. I'm 64, been riding over 46 years, but only on my fifth bike. In fact, this is the first time I've had two running bikes at one time; the last two:

'72 CL450, '73 CB750, '82 CB750SC, '96 Nighthawk 750 (I call it a CB750ST, see pic below for why), '01 ST1100.

Took a ride out to Alice's with my 'Wing and ST buddies. Cool weather but a really nice day.
Harley had some H-Ds there that you could ride, We didn't have the time but I woud have like to take one for a spin. Really love the seat height on those bad boys. Alice's is getting a little pricey. Maybe Buck's next time. 160mi so it was a very nice day.

I stopped at Auto Zone first, and all they had was some thick rubber fuel hose.
HD tubing is the same diameter as I needed, heat range to 175 degrees, and the HD guy said he's used it for fuel.

Rode the '12 :bk13: in for the commute. Probably stick with it this week until I can get the '10 :bl13: back together.

Today I installed the rear crash bars I received from Red Dirt Cowboy. Went on without a hitch, although I had to look at pics on here of someone else’s installation to orient the bars and adapters correctly. Hope I never have to find out if they work!

Did a long ride from my home all the way up North past Bloomer Wisconsin. Got home after an hour and a half and realized I had driven almost 90 miles.

Rode into work and got a text from my 73 year old mom saying she wanted to sit outside since its so nice here today but couldn't because their deck umbrella hadn't been put up this year. So I took a long lunch break and rode the 61 mile round trip there and back to put it up, and have lunch with mom.

A win win in my book. ST miles, a nice place to sit, and a lunch with Mom!

The previous thread was deleted due to performance issues.

So, we'll start this one again.
Used police bikes are always full of surprises. Today on the way home some police do-dad fell out of the front cowl and bounced around the front fender. This will be fourth time this week I have had to take the plastic off to work on it. But to make the best off it I have some ideas for new lights.

Some cops love their motors while other slog them an put 'em away wet'. That is they really don't worry a whit so knowing what you're getting is really important.

If I had the disposable cash I'd get all white plastic (will Honda sell STP bits to the unwashed masses?) and a white Smuggler. (The new STPs are black and white.) I really like the look of the ST in white.

I stopped by the butcher and I hauled 40 pounds of ground chicken necks, 10 pounds of chicken leg quarters, 5 pounds of cabbage, 1/4 pound of head cheese, a dozen eggs, and hauled a**

Nothing today, after talking to Larry the other day for about an hour I'm afraid to ride it until I fully disassemble it and check everything!:thumb: Lol! Thanks Larry!
:wht11:

Larry is more right than not not on things ST; but without him being close by to work on the thing, and having all thumbs; I have to just get along best I can. His advice is really great to have before going to a local Honda service shop.

Got in a hundred or so miles checking fuel pump install aux tank function. Few more things for the 50 cc in Sept. Oh yea, sid's ready to go...snacks in hand.
