What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Hi Eric,

Are you happy with the TPMS?

Thanks,
Gino
Yes! Still works great. I like the mounting location on the dash a lot (obscures nothing for me). The display unit holds a charge for quite a long while. Mileage-wise, it lasted 1200 miles over several days to Vegas before needing to be charged again. ..Lasts weeks or longer if just riding occasionally. For the cheap price, it's well worth the money. I have to admit it's a pain to check tire pressure as often as should be done and this helps a lot. It's fascinating also to watch pressures and temps increase while riding and heating the tires up. It my save me a tire or save my bacon one day so for that reason alone I recommend any TPMS.

I've had many short term rides. It was a nice ride, good power, but I'm not a Honda lover. In the last decade, I've had 3 Hondas, and all were sold rather quickly. The ST, an 02 Valkyrie, and a VFR. I bought my VStrom just a few weeks after the Valkyrie, and the Valk just sat for the rest of it's time here. I'm a Kawasaki/Suzuki lover. (loved my FZ1 Yammie too!) I'm somewhat addicted to finding killer m/c deals. Maybe I need therapy? :p

To each his own...and yes, you probably do! :rofl1:

I wonder....

Does the first bike’s make that you owned in your youth, set the preference for life?

Did for me. I started with Honda, and still prefer it do today. Wondering if this is true for others...

Yes there are some high end makes I would like (Ducati), but it’s not gunna happen as long as I have kids in college.
:wave1:

Interesting thought. You may be on to something there. :think1:

No, my first "bike" was a Suzuki (if you could call it a bike), my second bike was a Yamaha. Third bike was a Honda CB450, that I had to rebuild the top end on.
Then another Yamaha, then a Honda, then another Yamaha, then a Honda, Honda, Honda...etc...:dr13::bl13::bk13::bl13::bk13:

For me, NOTHING there. :shrug2:

Just the road bikes:
1st bike Harley, 2nd Triumph, 3rd Honda, 4th Moto Guzzi, 5th Yamaha, 6th BMW; that covers 1969-1984.

Current garage 4 BMW's, 1 Triumph.

...
Or.... did you start with a Honda because you'd already done a lot of 'homework' to figure out you would like a Honda best?

Applying the analogy to other vehicles, based on first vehicles, today I should be driving Ford or Dodge pickups, VW cars, and John Deere equipment (lawnmowers). But I've none of those brands today. The Fords were very good around the farm. My first car, a VW, was horrendous. The John Deere equipment was very good.

I've had Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda motorcycles, but now have only a BMW.

I tend to think that you gravitate to what you learn you like, what has treated you the best--which takes some iterations. In my case, I figured out over the decades that Honda tends to make the products I like (not that I first purchased a Honda and therefore tend to stick with Honda).

But now times have changed, and BMW made what I wanted.

Although I'm a Honda partisan when it comes to what I ride, based on last night's performance I prefer a Suzuki doing the catching for the Nationals.

First 2 wheelers had briggs and Strattons, then Jawa (big 50cc step thru (offroad modded))-Suzuki-Hodaka-Yamaha-Kaw-YKSYKSSKBultacoYYYKS(fog sets in)......Nope your wonderer is off. Never owned a Honda until 2003 then bought ST1300 in 2009 and it's been in the garage over 10 years now.

It did for me because it was a good experience that lived up to my expectations at that time. The same with the second bike also a Honda. I had one dalliance with a Ducati that wasn't as seamless. A great bike but too temperamental and I didn't speak Italian and it didn't speak English. Hondas have always been bilingual to me.

There are other good brands of bikes. For me Honda's didn't excel in any one area (well there is reliability) but they were very good in many areas and they always made one that caught me eye. And my wallet.

Looked at my new PR4 front skin. It looks marvelous. No more Bridgestones.

"Today I discovered why that Buick tried to turn me into a hood ornament"

When teaching a motorcycle class, I always tell my students to be especially cautious around Buicks with Florida plates.

I received my new Sargent seat for my bike. I only ordered a front one and had them cover it to match the rear. It looks Nice I'll swap it around this weekend.

My eddication

I'd say you are looking at a failed brake light switch... The driver of the Buick failed to see his brake lights and almost rear ended him.

If the Buick quickly applied brakes and caused its nose to drop it might have been able to get under the motorcycle and put it on its hood, hence hood ornament.

Capisce?

Just booked the beaST in for two T31'S next Tuesday. The rear is squared and down to 2mm and the front will be due soon too. Hopefully the rear will stay legal until then.

Gotta give the driver credit, even if he may have been following a little to close. It's all to common to say he was trying to kill you. So it was really good that he was paying attention.
