What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Well, it can't be both.

I do so love autocorrect. Good catch. Convex.

Polished away the tarnish from my exhaust, changed brake pads all around and replaced final drive hypoid gear oil on my ‘05. Oh, and got a ride in as well to break in the pads. : )

Rode down to Columbia SC, picked up a seat, went to east of Knoxville TN Xenophon TN. Back to PHL.
I put the Garmin on track and it did but instead of taking a picture I saved it... no, it’s a Garmin. So I ended up with 1018 miles in 21 hours and 1600 ish in 31. Wow. I ache! Only picture except the 100 screen shots taking the phone out of the cradle CDF60DC7-8F28-469B-BA14-92823BECAD06.jpeg
Looks like that area around Xenophon has some nice riding through there. I'll have to put that area on my next trip into Tennessee. That was a heck of a day for you.:D Great to meet you.

Wow Iron Butt and Saddle sore all at once Congratulations

Rode up Angeles Crest Highway with a buddy, making a side-trip to the Mount Wilson Observatory.

Also spent about an hour helping a fellow motorcyclist with a flat tire. No cell service, so we rode down to a 7-11 and purchased a can of flat-fix to bring back to the guy. No luck. (I'm thinking pinch flat as this guy went about 300# off-road riding a little Honda 150 trail bike.) So happened a guy in a p-up had stopped a short distance away. We asked and he agreed to transport the rider and bike home. He was offered $, not sure if he took it or not. Later got a text from the m-cyclist that he and the mc made it home safely. :thumb:

Nice you could help him

Thank you, it’s unverified. I will change that tonight. I have been preparing for this for about 6 weeks.
I have done 3 Iron Butts. Not seeing any more in the future but it was enjoyable with friends. 4 riders is about right otherwise the gas and potty breaks get messed up. We had a rule about breakdowns. We will help you for 15 min., after that the group leaves because we made our rides a charity event.

I was happy to be of help. I hope someone would do the same for me. I always look for a thumbs-up from cyclist stopped on the side of the road. As motorcyclists, we are a bit more exposed than those in a car.
I have a lot of paying back to perform for receiving help from multiple others in the past.
Once we were helped out several times just on one vacation. The first after being dropped off at the Chobe 'Airport' where we were the only (visible) living thing around except for the wildebeest that the pilot had to scare off the dirt runway prior to landing. The only building was a completely empty mud brick hut. A very nice Aussie happened to drive by and saw us standing there in bewilderment. He stopped to check on us Yanks, and then offered to drive us to our hotel. (The hotel wasn't expecting us until the next day.)

A few days later, while exploring the bushveld, our guide buried our vehicle up to the axles. He strips down to his skivvies to dig us out while the wife and I go looking for things to put under the tires for traction. The vehicle just dug itself in deeper and deeper. As luck would have it, an Aussie 'desert rat' happened by and pulled us out of our predicament. Not sure why there were so many Aussies around, but thank God they were there.
It's situations like those that make you realize that you're no longer at the top of the food chain !

Good story. Unexpected adventures often make the best ones.

While I'm waiting for my rear wheel hub rubber damper to arrive, I removed some fairing parts to re-inspect the cooling system. Since last summer, I am suspecting I'm having a leak somewhere.
So, I let the engine run at idle for five-ten minutes, watch the temperature raise to mid-range... had a closer look with a flashlight at the different hoses connection near radiator and thermostat... and there I spotted it.

Bingo !
20210504_180209.jpg

Small leak at the exit of the thermosthat housing, at the biggest hose, the one going to the top of radiator.

With a 6 mm ratchet, I probably tighted the screw of that clamp for... one and half or two turns.

Tried it again with engine running... no more leaks.

Now, I also watched my coolant reservoir level. I was expecting to see it to raise a bit and lower back as the engine cools down.
Nope. No real difference hot or cold.
The top of the small hose going to that reservoir is quite hot, but the bottom of it near the reservoir is cold.
Hum... that hose seems to be jam packed with something.
Will have to check that.
