Mr. Donaldson - R.I.P. 10/15/2014

I didn't know Bob, but from reading all the tributes to him from you all, its obvious he was a great man, and will be sadly missed.
May he Rest in Peace. Ray.

I guess it was the right decision, I wouldn't have got there before he passed. I just got home.

Mac, it was the right decision. This VERY short time he had was something his family needed more than any of us did.... We have only known him for a short time even if that was several years, they had a lifetime with him and it was time for them to be with him and say goodbye. You can cherish in the fact that he considered you a great friend, and you him.. and that gift of friendship surely comforted him and it will comfort us moving forward.

I read this inevitable but sad news this morning with a very heavy heart. Mr. Donaldson, you were a class act that all of only wish we could accomplish. You are now at peace and we are thankful the pain is no longer with you. My thoughts and prayers continue with your family during these very hard times. I know what they are going through as my FIL had this very same thing and passed this past June in a very short time.

I render a one last 'SALUTE' my friend. RIP BOB

Glad Mac is home safe! We are heart broken about our friend Bob-a true gentleman, but we are also glad that he is no longer in pain. God bless his family because we know they are suffering without him. We were fortunate
enough to meet Bob at a camp event in Connecticut years ago. Since then we have either seen him at various events or here at our home. When he would come to Pa. to visit his son and family, he would also come to visit us, stay for a few days and go out for some rides in our area. He was always a joy to have around! Good picture of Bob and Mellow. Here is the way I always like to envision life after we pass - sometime in the next couple of days in Bob's
now life - they are going to be having one heck of a party welcoming Bob. And his wife, parents, family and friends that are with him now, including Terry and Putt are going to celebrate his arrival. And that thought makes me
happy. Bob and I will miss him terribly. Sue Dantinne

I've just read all the posts after the news of Bob's passing through a haze of tears. I'm indescribably sad...what an incredible loss. But I'm also glad that he's at rest and out of pain. May he ride on with "The Boys" and all those who have passed before him.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky,
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

RIP, Colonel.

Patty

[QUOTE;1800817]I did not know him, but feel the loss nonetheless. Prayers go out to his family.[/QUOTE]
Well said Valkman,
I am with you on this .. not only in felling a part of this loss .. but also praying for all of those touched by Mr. Donaldson and now hurting as a result of his passing.
Especially you my brother Vinny
Randy

Bob was one the most genuinely nice people I have ever known. He touched so many hearts and truly left a positive mark on this world. I always loved seeing his smiling face at events. So thankful I got that last hug at DinkieSTOC. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Many prayers for his family. I know their pain.

Prayers for his family and for his family here on the forum, for he will be missed by us all!

Until we meet again my friend, Rest In Peace!

Just received a phone call from Gail Donaldson... She said hospice came in and got Bob cleaned up and comfortable. About 3:00 am this morning his breathing calmed down. He past peacefully in his sleep just before 7:00 am. When the funeral home arrived, they placed him on the gurney and immediately draped him with an American Flag! There is not going to be a Memorial service just yet. Gail told me since the ST-owners members meant so much to him, the family said we could plan a memorial ride in his honor (some time in the Spring when weather gets better). The family will give us the coordinates where his ashes will be scattered. I believe it will be the same location where his wife's ashes were scattered. They may wait until this event to make if final for them also.
This is a huge honor, so I hope we can do this. I'm not great at organizing anything, so if someone else wants to step up, please do.

Well, I've been up now since 6:55am and I still can't come up with the words to express how much this hurts. Maybe later, when the tears quit flowing, I'll be able to. For now, RIP BDonald. I miss you terribly.

Thanks Vinny, that's an incredible honor... Weather wise, perhaps May just after FerrySTOC would work as it would allow many to show up and be in between other events? Open to thoughts.. I will do my absolute best to make this.

Thanks for the details Vinny. It's somewhat comforting to know he transitioned peacefully.

Sounds like a good time... the spring weather will be calming down 'bout then.

I believe Bob knows what you did Mac, and would give you a big hug and tell you he's glad you're safe back at home.
