Itchy Boots

For those not on Noraly’s email list, a thoughtful note (my bolding):

Dear John Oosterhuis,

I hope you are doing well. Today's newsletter is a little different from the usual on-the-road updates.

The past week, I've been closely following the terrible news from Europe, even though I am pretty much on the other side of the world. If I wouldn't read the news online here, I wouldn't even have a clue what was going on. Whatever happens in Europe seems to be far away from Central America, and it's business as usual over here. But not quite for me. I am from Europe, and Ukraine does not feel like some faraway land. Every day I think about all the people that are scared now, have to fear for their lives, and are on the verge of losing their freedom. I can't imagine what they are going through.

I try to keep my platforms free of politics because, in my experience, social media is not a good place to discuss politics as it usually just leads to people virtually attacking each other and name-calling each other. But one can't simply ignore a dangerous war in Europe either. In a way, it feels wrong to post videos and pictures of motorcycle adventures right now. At the same time, so many people told me they need some light, some distraction, and some feel-good, showing that the majority of the world is in fact a good place, filled with good people.

So for now, I'll keep on posting
, to try and balance, even just a tiny bit, all the negative images and news. I am holding my breath here, hoping that peace will return to that region incredibly soon and the nightmare for the people there is over.

Stay safe and speak soon!

Lots of love,

Noraly

I am grateful to Noraly for showing me places like Kazakhstan . Such an enormous country and not somewhere I would ever want to visit but it fills up the huge gap in my knowledge . A good place to blast off rockets for satellites . A more colourful place is Columbia where the horrendous house painters make it like a story in a children`s book . Good health and happiness to Noraly .

Hi John Oosterhuis,

Hope all is well!

Over here in Central America, Alaska and I are getting ourselves into quite the adventure. Trying to reach a faraway corner in Nicaragua really meant experiencing local river life. To be honest, it was never the plan to spend so much time on little boats, dragging my bike in and out, but… I didn’t want to miss out on this place either!

It gave me a completely different view of how people live here than what you see in the capital city Managua for example. From catching iguana to provide for lunch or to sleep in the house of the Rama, guardians of the Indio Maiz Nature Reserve. The next challenge is to get out of this remote place again. But hey, one problem at the time!

Ride safe and speak soon!

Lots of love,

Noraly

And here’s her latest blog post on her website:

This is the guy that’s going to help Alaska become legal in El Salvador. He’s very Spanish! It is near the end of his video that you will see where Noraly comes into the picture.
The video is in Spanish with English subtitles….you will be challenged on how fast you can read. ;)

My peeps are big fans of her. Every time they come for maintenance the conversation is about her latest video.

This episode is a lot of fun! Can we say good chemistry?
It is a lot of fun seeing her interacting with another rider. I like his editing too. Now, another channel to follow lol.
Too bad they have nothing in common and don’t get along…how she put up with him for a couple of days! ;)

How marvelous to see our Noraly smiling and laughing so much! Joyful. Happy traveler.

John

When you see the Spanish guy riding you just sense he is relaxed and a good rider . Hard to pin down exactly why I feel that . Even on dodgy surfaces and missing wagons plunging past . Noraly too , always capable and safe .

She is one of my favorite YouTubers.Never miss a video.
Do you all watch Alan Millard? What that man can do with a hack saw and a BBQ grill is just beyond belief.
