Itchy Boots

If you're referring to notifications on your smartphone, there are two places to check
a) YouTube app - Settings -> Notifications
b) the phone's Notification setting for the app ... for example, on Android: System Settings -> Apps -> YouTube app -> Notifications.
Similar on an iPhone. I have mine set to give a banner pop up on whatever screen I’m on.

When confronted by a lack of knowledge about technology, I always tease my riding buddies: “That’s OK Bob, I’ll hire a 7 year old kid to come around and give ya’ a hand with that.”

....the problem is, despite having three frickin’ degrees in Engineering, it’s usually ME - who needs the help.

All seriousness aside, I have become a major YouTube aficionado. Here is just a partial list of my favourites:
  • Vintage Machine.org
  • FortNine
  • This Old Tony
  • My Mechanics
  • Itchy boots
  • South Main Auto
  • The History Guy (he is absolutely incredible - try it)
  • Mark Felton
  • ....and of course, our very own Jim C-G whose channel is: Old Guy on a Bike
I honestly don’t recall the last time is watched ANYTHING on network TV - even the CBC I stream live on my iPad and as for the usual Canadian and US channels - meh. I find their offerings to be either idiotic or bland - but certainly not entertaining.

Oh no, I just watched an episode of This Old Tony... he's great! My wife will be ever so thrilled to watch that with me. ;)

It drives Kathy crazy that she always gets sea sick and it never affects me. Too many years spent working offshore. Dynamically positioned drillships were the worst as they rolled and yawed in every direction.

After watching her outtakes video I'm very impressed by her grit and determination, navigating plenty of tough terrain on a fully loaded bike, she's obviously a lot tougher than her other videos depict, Go Noraly!

When I took a ship back to Holland, the worst part was in the St. Lawrence Seaway around Gaspe. The waves were 30 metres high, lots of people were seasick at that time. My father had told me to book a cabin midship just above the waterline. The best place to be, I avoided getting seasick, however we would party from noon till 3:00am everyday. When he met me in Rotterdam he said "You look awful" I replied "I know, but what a good time!" ;)

Saw the latest episode on the subscription list, read the title and said “Crap, Noraly caught the virus”...

Now that‘s how to jump to conclusions, people!

Poor Noraly ... got sick ...

I never had the problem during my tour of duty in the Navy ...

#1 reason I didn't join the Navy. And although I spent 10 years in the Air Force, I never step foot into an Air Force plane to go anywhere! Thank goodness. I suffer from motion sickness, just watching TV!

I've just started on Season 3; the hiatus kinda got me out of the habit of watching since there wasn't much new content coming out. Looking at her latest helmet with the visor closed and GoPro mount immediately reminded me on an Imperial storm trooper... not the first thing you might think of if you've seen any of her bubbly, upbeat, friendly persona.

Videos on her videos. This fellow says he binged watched all of season one and concurs with what we already know. Noraly produces good videos. I put this up here as a piece of interest. I strongly urge you to fast forward to the 2:20 minute mark , that’s where he begins his critic on her videos, which are all positive by the way. (He’s done a number of takes,so his editing of his own work is a bit choppy, he should’ve changed the camera angle for each take instead of trying to be in the same location for each take....but I digress)
Noraly is making an impact on the clogging vlogging world.......

He watched every episode of season 1 in just three days? Jeez, I thought I was bad.

Making my way through this very long thread.

Blame kiltman. He brought Noraly to us. (Glad he did!) He said "I think it’s worth checking out." He was right.

The BGFG guy gives a really good critique of her videos and really nails why they're so compelling. He's got good presence himself and I hope he does well. He's got a ways to go to catch up to Noraly though.

The one critique I have of his vid is having underlying music. It's rare that I like it and I don't notice her doing it while talking. I'll pay more attention.
