Itchy Boots

Not about Noraly, but I think most people who follow Itchy Boots will enjoy this

I’ve always had a big passion for Land Rovers. A friend of my family had one on his farm and on one or two visits I recall he took the dogs and us kids in the back to round up sheep on his farm in Wales. Fun days as a kid!

We get to guess what her new bike will be. Here’s the link.

My money is on the CFMoto 450. It is more off road capable than the KTM390. It resembles the Tenere but more compatible with her size. The Africa Twin and Tenere would not be a choice in my opinion, judging from her past tours.

The KTM is more fuel efficient and requires premium fuel, has a higher top speed, it has a higher seat height and is wider, but 16 lbs lighter.
The CF Moto has more torque, is a twin, narrower and lower, has more ground clearance than the KTM, sounds better and I believe a few hundred dollars cheaper.
Probably was a tough call for her ….. I stick with the CFMoto

Because you've got no money? :rofl1:
Ackshully I was implying I can be a fool... but then again, you may not be far wrong.
How do we know this?
If I had money, I would spend more time at STOC events, and less time at the office.

If CFMoto were smart they would beg her to ride their bike and pray that it didn't fall to bits. She is a great brand ambassador.

If I recall from some of the videos interviewing her, she mentions that she really doesn’t want to be too beholden to a brand that may impose expectations on her. On the big items like motorcycles, she prefers to pay her own way. (This is my argument on why I think she may go the CFMoto route, because of competitive pricing).
To your point, agreed if they were smart…..

Noraly is an ADV rider in the truest sense of the word. Rugged simplicity and ease of maintenance is the way to go here, especially when she finds herself in far away places in primitive (relatively) surroundings. In the old days of International Six Day Trials, bikes were carefully prepared and constructed with all theses things in mind. Redundancy of control cables, parts stashed around the bike, plus little details like a well placed hook to hold the chain during rear wheel extractions. These little things mean a lot when you are fatigued and broken down and relying on your own wits

Looks like she has picked up some weight this summer. I identified light weight and ease of maintenance/repair as going into the selection, but was way off the mark on picking a bike. She has clearly been thinking about the bike selection a lot. She also goes in for a bit of hyperbole. These two guys are the most knowledgeable in the world? Wait 5 minutes and someone else will come along. No doubt they are very good, and we will see what they have done.
