How fast have you had your ST?

In the meantime let's just say as fast as she would go. I have never had a vehicle that I did not run up to the max to see how it felt.

HAH! My brother in law asked me a couple of weekends ago as I was merging HIS Chevy Avalanche into traffic - "have you ever driving something that you HAVEN'T taken to the limit?" Um, .....no? :D And once I get new shoes and brakes on this thing, we'll have a go. ZRX - tops out at 135 at 9000 feet above sea level, slightly more down low . :)

130+mph on a 1999 ST1100 when I went to pick it up in January. Thought I was only doing around 90-100mph, till I looked down and saw the needle.

Brought the ST home from the purchase and got an indicated 133 but she was done at that. With the addition of the Laminar Lip I'd guess my limit would be a bit lower now. Saw 177 indicated on a '98 ZX9 on a Daytona trackday and 170 on the R1 on a lonesome interstate. Like someone said; after a point the crash won't be much different in terms of results. But, I'm getting concerned about the increase in law enforcement- I've no interest in wearing bracelets and seeing my bike impounded...

128mph yesterday, indicated by the speed o. Not a big deal for some, I know, not even the fastest I have been on a bike over all. But it IS the fastest I have ever been with my wife on the bike. :p: At 120, the right glove box cover came open because I have my phone charger running out of the top. At 128 the front end got real light and she moved over a couple of inches and that was enough to roll it back down to a more reasonable cruising speed of 80mph. :D

Tonight on my way home I wanted to see how the Dark Side handled speed, so I brought it up to a GPS indicated 123. It was steady as a rock, but my concern is for wildlife that comes out of nowhere. And also for the Award Givers that always seem to pop up just as I'm having fun.

I hit 100 on over the weekend. It was only for a short period of time as I wanted to see how the bike felt that fast. Surprisingly smooth. I'm sure i"ll find a reason to goose it that high again.

I hope that you guys realize that when your spedo hits 100, not unless you are using a speedo healer, that you are only doing about 88 miles an hour right give or take depending on the bike and the programming in the ecu? I have proof that when i had my gps, i know my gps is pretty dam accurate when i used it in my gran prix and the numbers on the gps and the speedo in the gran prix were within 3 mph even at 100, and i had my STeed up to 105 the gps showed 90 so you guys might wanna take that into consideration. For some reason Ma Honda dont really want us to know exactly how fast we are going prolly to keep us from getting into "real" trouble, we only think we got into trouble if you know what i mean?

That's why many posters give a GPS speed in this thread.

in a 20 mph headwind with higher gusts the Laminar Lip on mine rattles against the main shield a good 1/2 inch away at 120 or so. It's never had clear enough traffic to go faster.

JP-you need to get outta the city and come out to the country. It's wide open spaces down here and you can go WFO in quite a few places. Believe me-we know from experience!!! lol

Like I have mentioned before, my '10' model is correct with the GPS. Mother Honda "changed" something? Someone else on here also has a 2010 model and they say it is correct also. I can't remember who it was...........

Actually that was down on the way to Waco...most of the time I'm out your way, I'm on the tighter twisty bits (~_^) I needs to get further out though....and take the lip off if I'm to try that. Fall Creek hwy and Massey Road are not conducive to much over 70, and then only rarely...good way to be a permanent part of the scenery :06biker:

p.s.

lately too it has been a bit windy and at odd angles that vary to try to do such as that....looked like I was cornering when I went through Bono Sunday, but it was on the straight!

Boo hiss! (~_^)

BTW, yesterday I took the LamLip off, stashed in the trunk, and on a stretch of hwy 43 in northeast Texas got mine to touch 130 indicated before slowing for locals in moving chicanes, and then the road went back to it's pleasant meandering. over 100 the Shinko tires are a bit wandering in nature. I like their normal speed handling, but I guess it is at the cost of some high speed stability. They were fine at the 75-90 I was moving at most of the day.:06biker:

Hmmmm...what's on the calender today

note to self...find out how fast my ST is.....

well, if I take into consideration the rotation of the Earth (as it cruises in it's orbit)...motoring along with the rest of the galaxy/universe....geez I'd say mine's goin' pretty fast....and getting some really impressive mpg results.....
