H4 LED - 2018 Evitek, F2 replaces G6

No, that's all on you. We are just helping you make a better choice.

You will understand when you go out on a moonless night, on long straight dark road, in the middle of nowhere, and you click on the high beams.....

Damn, you guys are good at spending my money...

I feel your pain. But they're well worth the $50. I have the G6 predecessors and they are awesome and that's during the daytime.

I haven't ridden at night and that probably won't happen until the next time change. I can't wait to see them on the dark streets.

After running two pairs of Xenon HID kits on my STeed over the last 10 years I recently mounted the set of Evitek G6 LEDs that I purchased back in March 2016 this past Sunday. One of the bulbs lasted all of about 30 minutes before it started blowing fuses. It works fine on the bench but it obviously must have a high inrush current problem when first started. To say I'm disappointed is putting it mildly. Since I purchased these things more than 2 years ago it looks like I'll have to eat the cost on them.

So I'm debating what I should do next, try a set of F2s or just go back to the xenon HIDs which I rather liked...

So, these:

are suitable for retrofit for an ST1100? Should I use my existing H4 conversion rings with them? Are they compatible with my Signal Dynamics modulator? Sorry if these have been answered previously.

I just installed the F2s on my ST1100. Yes, break off the bottom two lugs and use the adapter rings (shims) to mount in the headlight assembly. Its the same procedure as any other H4 light. These lights are awesome.

STILL waiting for my warranty bulb from China. It got sent back to them so they had to resend it. Sounds like BULL to me, if so what's with their mail system?

It'll be a month and a half till I get it.

Mine were in transit for about a month, one way. Lotta time on the boat, apparently. Once they got Stateside they made rapid progress.

Another positive review for the F2s.:plus1:

I installed a pair in my ST1100 and have done a couple of rides at night and am very impressed. Compared to the HID lights I had before the F2s are at least as bright, better focused, better high beam, cleaner cutoff, easier to install and less fussy about cut-out during starting. Not to mention they draw less power and cost one third of the cost of the HIDs. And waaaaaay better than stock.

Two big thumbs up.:yes: Highly recommended
And hats off to Spiderman for doing the research to find these.:hat1::yr1:

Great deal Dave! I changed all of mine including switchbacks and I too have been very happy with the outcome. Perhaps older eyes, or the world is a dimmer place, but the new LEDs sure make the world a brighter place. We need it for all those Bambi's at Todd's place.

I’ve been following this thread for awhile. I want F2 for my ST1300.
When I bring up the latest link posted it says H7 in the description.???
where can I order the right F2 leds?
Not worried about saving a few bucks
just want the right stuff. This group rocks. Love my ST

I found mine on that eBay link, seller apparently only had 1 to sell at 37.00. Well worth the cost of 12.00 more. I did not use the shims and have an even, focused light pattern. What I found, is the front surface that comes in contact with headlight housing is what makes the light pattern you see. My shims, that came with a previous halogen H4 has enough play when assembled together doesn't add or take away from the fitment of the LED placement in the housing.

I just installed one LED light and got it back together. Then I realized the rubber boot is covering the fan at the back. Is this going to be a problem?
I just turned them on for a few seconds and WOW so much brighter than the bulbs that were in there.

I ordered these because there were so many good reviews of them vs almost none on some of the other ones.

I had to bend the little tabs back and it took forever to get it installed with my fat hands!
I tried first without bending the tabs but I could not get the bulb to seat.

Anyway, should I take off the rubber boot or put some vent holes in it?

Seem to have lost a few posts with the upgrade... no big deal in this case.

Well, I did what I knew I should do. but REALLY did not want to! I took the bulbs out and turned them 180 degrees and that fixed my issue with high and low beams being swapped. right one was no problem, left one fought me for a couple of hours trying to get the retaining spring clipped in but finally done!
Low beam is better now, high beam is not quite as good as far as distance but much brighter with what is there , still very good.

Megathumper:

The led bulb that you indicate that you got in post #236 is not good. It does not have the required shield to work correctly. You need to read the beginnig of this thread and some of this thread

https://www.st-owners.com/forums/in...-modify-h4-led-to-reduce-glare-st1300.146534/

There has been a lot of work to get the overseas fabricators to build the H4 bulb so that it works the way it should. Currently the F2 by Evitek and sold by others is the best option. See post #232 and 233 above for vendors.

Thanks !
