I thought my fairly new 07 ST 1300 might be the first bike I have owned that I did not change the exhaust on ,well that was until the Delkevics caught my eye at under $300.00 I took a chance and installed the 450mm straight end ovals, made out of 304 stainless . Now I didn,t just want loud noise and to my surprise they sound great and have a low mellow growl at idle and around town and at higher speeds you don,t even hear them , just what I wanted ,not too loud but ,now I know there is a honkin V-4 underneath me ! Also they run way cooler with not having the cats holding in the heat ,and they are almost 11 lb,s
lighter then stock and look a lot more sporty than the stock triangles. Fist ride outside temps in the high 80,s ,started and ran perfect, no issues . Also rode at 48 degrees the other morning and again ran perfect ! Very pleased so far ! Will try to get pics ,and keep the site informed on the long term !
Advantages
#1- GREAT SOUND -NOT LOUD
#2-LESS HEAT
#3-11 lbs LESS WEIGHT
#4- GREAT LOOKS
#5- ONLY $300 WOW
#6- ABOUT 4 HP GAIN figuring 1 hp gain on weight loss

Was there an issue with hardware or did everything line up the first time? Also, what is the quality like, considering you're paying $150 per muffler?

Ok, dumb question as I am new to the 1300. I know that the 1300 has CATs. So are they eliminated with all the exhaust farkle options out there. I guess I haven't looked around the exhaust enough to see where they are. I guess this would mean that they are built into the muffler. I thought that I read that the 1300 has O2 sensors. Does this mess with that at all? I know in cages they have pre and post cat O2 sensors to monitor emissions post cat. I guess I assumed the 1300 was the same maybe I am wrong and they just assume it is there and doing something which would be better than nothing.

I don't have any plans to swap exhaust, it is a maybe but there are other farkles higher up on my list right now. That said $300 isn't bad. Just looking into it for edumication on how the system works for now.

Yes the cats are built into the forward part of the mufflers where the cylindrical section is (see picture). Replacing them with the Delkelvics, StainTunes or Two Bros mufflers eliminates the cats. The ST's O2 sensors are all upstream of the mufflers however, so they aren't affected.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I guess that is also why the aftermarket ones are so much lighter.

Well I will try to answer all questions on the pipes !
#1- The quality of these is actually very high IMHO,a highly polished finish on all, the cans front pipes and band clamps all in 304 Stainless !
#2 -The fit was very easy all went together very nice !
#3- All the sound clips on the net do not do these justice . I guess the best explanation is ,they growl like a tiger at low rpm,s and quiet to a hum at highway speeds. They come with a removable restricter but I like the sound with them in !
#4- I do notice a huge improvement on the heat issue around the ankles without the cats !
Please feel free to PM me if you have any further questions , and thanks again to Joe --Mellow
for pitching in on this with info !

Just picked up a set on fleabay. weeeeeeee :bow1:

The price point was just too much to back away from. The only question I had was 14" or 18", went with the 18's to ensure the exhaust heat comes out behind the bags instead of under them. Couldn't really find a picture of them mounted-side view, so I made an educated guess. I also noticed they come in Carbon now, for a little over $400. Will add to this thread later w/ my own review.

Hi Invader ,I also went with the 450 mm lg or about 18" lg ,they come out about to the back ends of bags, just like the stockers did and they just look right, like they came with the bike. I am going to try to get some pic,s uploaded . I have had very good comments on the look and the sound of the pipes and all seems well. took the bike up to 115 mph and it was still pulling hard, senses then kicked in !

Well, I got them today. Initial impressions are great. Really nicely welded, great quality stainless, through-flow design. Outside baffle is as expected, just punched louvers facing forward. The center plug/baffle is conical at the head end, creating a little more backpressure, and forcing more gas into the main baffle.

The dreaded L vs. R S-pipe got me. Put the L pipe on the R side, and the can shot to the moon. The saddlebag didn't fit. Swapped pipes, and they went together wonderfully. I don't think the cans are ST specific, just their standard 18" can, but the pipes sure are.

The mid mount bolt isn't reused, just the rear one. Weight savings is huge. both cans weigh as much as, or less than, one of the previous.

The sound is throaty, without being raspy.

As you can see, the 450mm (18") cans just stick out past the OEM cans. The 14" cans (an option) would dump below the bag, possibly heating it up. Personal taste I guess also.

Self explanatory (yes, I know the delkevic logo is etched on upside-down. Luke @ Delkevic is already working on a replacement can for me.)

i also put the 18 inch on my 07 ST. I have noticed some heat reduction. I ride 20 miles to work and upon arrival can place my hand on the back part of the can and it is only slightly warm, not hot. These may not be the best aftermarket exhaust out there, but for $300 they are well worth the pennies. Have been well pleased so far.

Ride when you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have installed the tri-ovals and am happy overall. However there is a bit of a glitch. The seam that runs the whole length of the can is on the wrong side. ie. if you put the seam to the inside of the bike, the angle of the "outside side" of the can is vertical whereas the stock can is angled top outside to bottom inside. Switching the cans side to side puts them in stock orientation but the seam is now visible. Not a big thing but........
Like the sound and the weight reduction though and overall would do it again.

These Delkevic's must be the rage---mine are to be delivered this afternoon by UPS. I was going to wait until the Holiday weekend to install, but I think I will put them on tonite. Can't wait to loose the jetson sound & become a real Sport/Tourer---------

Delkevic Exhaust Sound Loudness Scale

Anyone could rate more precisely the loudness of these Delkevic compared to other alternatives? I've tried the Two brothers C2 which are way too loud (sold them) and want my next buy to be the right one. So any help with someone who could rate sound loudness on a scale from 1 to 10; stock would be 1, Two Brothers C2 would be 10. How would rate those Delkevics? The Staintunes?

I'm only looking to have a MC sound for my ST while not bothering my neighbors.

Would prefer the long (18"). Straight tip of downwards tip? Seems the latter is pointing downwards too much. Any suggestion?

Best place to buy from Canada?

Thanks guys.

With the baffle in, I'd rate it a 4. The sound disappears at highway speeds. Lower speeds, it growls nicely with a little bark to it if you blip the throttle. I have noticed some minor decel popping, but it hasn't resurfaced. No sound clip I've heard yet (or made myself) sounds like they do IRL.

Delkevic has a store on ebay. Just search Delkevic ST1300. They ship to cAnAdA (and worldwide).
