Where did you ride today?

Went for a little loop ride over by Goddard Youth Camp after work, saw a 6 degree temp drop in that 125 mile ride....Should be around freezing in the AM

Had a nice 130 mile ride on a beautiful and warm afternoon with two friends from church! Temps were in the 70's!

Rode up to Summercourt for training, then visited all the hospitals in West Cornwall to complete my Blood Bike induction course. Just got to pass the Advanced Motorcyclist institute test before starting blood deliveries etc. Rode about 100 miles today.

Wife and I went to see our daughter in Rogers, AR this weekend. She took the truck, but I rode since I had to come back today. 600+ miles round-trip. It was cold... low-30's and cloudy going up yesterday, mid-40s and a bit of sun riding back today. My 'lectrics (gloves, jacket liner) worked great, as usual, but I don't seem to have a pair of boots that are good below 40° for more than an hour or so. I tried some HotHands Toe Warmers riding back today, but don't think they did much... they weren't even warm when I pulled my boots off 6 hours after activating them.

Warm & Safe has some electric socks that work good for me. Just don't wear them too tight on your feet (like heavy over socks could cause).

Thanks Tim, but don't you need heated pants to plug them in to?

I was thinking maybe some battery powered socks or insoles? Anyone have any luck with these?

Went for a short ride and got caught in unforecast hail, turning to snow (with accompanying thundersnow). Temp went from 50 F to 32 F before we could get back home. Ahh, the joys of living at the base of the Rocky Mountains!

I experienced thundersnow in Toronto during a business visit one October, while wandering around downtown in the evening, and found it quite bizarre as the big fluffy flakes fell, accompanied by rumbling thunder. I blamed the event on the high humidity of being beside the Great Lakes. I didn't know you could get such a thing on the relatively dry eastern slopes of the Rockies.

In the 12 years I have lived here, I've experienced it about 3 times. The mountains create a lot of vertical development under the right conditions. We have lots of severe thunderstorms in the summer months because of that vertical lift.

Put 200+ great miles behind me today on the ST. The HealTech GPI works great! Lot of work and a little pricy ($120), but worth it to me. I was spoiled back in the 80s with OEM GPIs. Rode to see my parents in Hartwell, GA. Took all back roads of course. Beautiful 60-64*F weather.

Took the Honda ST out today around Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County, did 223 miles with temp's for the high 61.

Rode (and floated, picture was taken while floating) past a rock that Spain and Great Britain have been arguing about for at least the last 100 years. There was actually a military confrontation between the navies of these two countries yesterday about this rock - I think because Great Britain has threatened to tow the rock away and relocate it to the Caribbean once GB exits the European Community at the end of next month.

Anyway, I bypassed it - didn't bother to go in because 1) Customs is a PITA and I've already been in two different countries today, and; 2) been there before, not much to see except a bunch of monkeys at the top of the rock.

$185 in fuel & tolls to ride 480 miles

Today I rode from Valencia, Spain to Orange, France (just north of Montpellier), a distance of 480 miles (780 km).

That cost me USD $165 in direct out-of-pocket costs for road tolls ($85) and gas ($100). I am not happy about this.

I can cope with road tolls, or with fuel taxes, but to pay very high rates for both annoys me. Fuel is $5.80 per US gallon in Spain, and $6.60 per US gallon in France (motorway prices), and riding at speeds just a wee bit over the 80 MPH posted speed limit, the ST 1100 uses a lot of fuel.

Next time I have to get from Morocco to Switzerland, I'm going to take the ferry from Tangier to Genoa, Italy. It costs $600, but fuel and tolls for the route are darn close to that, not to mention that taking the ferry would save me about 1,000 miles of wear on the tires. Plus I can sleep on the ferry...

Hard to have sympathy for you Michael when I spent the day "riding" my snowblower (at least its a Honda) and clearing snow off of the roof. Supposed to be another storm on Sunday. I would rather be with you!

I took a nice 150 mile ride this afternoon with partly cloudy skies and temps reaching 79! It was my first chance to ride with the RDL saddle, Rackman Highway Wings, and the MCL Fork Brace I recently upgraded to from RockyHayes. As Dick Vitale would say, "IT WAS AWESOME, BABY!!!"

The photos are from Bear Lake Campground in the Blackwater Wildlife Management Area on Highway 4 just west of Baker and Crestview, FL.

While I am grateful to live where I do, and enjoyed the privilege to take a nice ride yesterday as I did, I am also mindful of so many of you and others that have been struggling through one bad weather system after another. My thoughts and prayers are for each that were impacted by the strong storms yesterday and last night, and for those who continue to persevere through a brutal winter season. Blessings to each of you!
