Where did you ride today?

I've never found a way to shovel heat or humidity.
Oh, that part is SUPER-EASY!
Ya just sweat.
Then ya shower.
Then ya do it again!
(This "never let them see you sweat" bull-crap is merely a marketing ploy to sell more anti-perspirant. And anti-p is bad for you - we need to sweat out the junk, it's natural and how we're designed. The good news is, I DO use deodorant.)

Fall is a bueatiful time here as well to ride . Tree leaves of course change color and makes for good pictures. Cooler temps make the bikes go faster.

I rode nowhere today....It raining and it's cold and I'm a big wusssss  Russ.
It takes a big man to admit it's raining and cold.

I didn't ride today either!! The Doc did take a toenail off, I feel like a big russssss  Way.

Just short ride today. Was a cool 53F and very cloudy this afternoon when I needed to take an Amazon return to the UPS Store. My wife likes to buy multiples of similar things at any store and then decide what she keeps, if any of it, afterwards and return what she decides not to keep. In this case different styles of coat hooks. She did decide to keep one of the styles.

Then off on the sort-of long way home for a total of just over 17 miles. Wanted to do a check ride to verify the oil level after more than just running at idle for 10 minutes and also to make sure there would be no issues after replacing the CVT belt. Last weekend I did the 12,000 mile maintenance that included the oil/filter change and CVT belt replacement. Then there were 4 days of rain all day each day and then dog sitting until today. All went well and the oil level was just more than the mid-point on the dip stick after parking and waiting 4-5 minutes in the garage. No weird noises or performance issues that would indicate something was put together wrong so now I'm ready for some cooler/colder weather riding... well, other than that the front tire will need to be replaced soon.

I still see enough tread left to think maybe another 1500-2000 miles before I need to do that. If I get a lot of miles during the next few months then I'll be attempting to replace the tire in a cold garage. Not ideal. I usually don't ride a lot of miles during winter months so I might possibly be able to hold off until at least March. Not the best idea to ride in the cold on worn tires but there's just too much tread to want to replace that front tire just yet. Maybe it will work to hang the new tire close to the front of my parabolic heater that I use in the garage to warm it up. Don't know if I can get away with putting the new tire in the oven. SWMBO might complain more than it would be worth.

I bought a Rabaconda tire changer just for those situations. Even going through the whole process the first time, and trying to avoid looking at the instructions like a "real man"...it was pretty simple. A couple weeks later, I got in my second set of tires and changed them too. Still simple. PM me if you have questions about it.

750 mile day today, from BMW Colonial Virginia Rally to home. Weather and temperature was about perfect, too nice to stop.

Rode out to what we call the Hill. Roadside park on Hwy 207 between Claude and Silverton, TX. It overlooks Palo Duro Canyon. Mid 60's and just a perfect day for it. I have a real weakness for these old K bikes. Have about 250,000 miles on these things from the past rides. Did my BBG on a 1986 version. Getting on this was just like being with an old friend who just knows what to do. Very familiar and refreshing to just ride without all the bells and whistles.

Awsome Bike! I've got a 1992 KI100RS as well and the darn thing will go forever!

"Where did you ride today?"
Thanks for asking! I rode to ALABAMA by gosh then on south to Mt. Carmel Florida! I had to test the bike out after clearing out the blocked coolant line to the wax assy. The bike is running almost as well as the day it had 127,346 miles. Oh yeah, it's cotton country around there. Cotton field just behind the water tower.

Trivia time: Mt Carmal is just north of Jay where Helicopter Training Field X is located: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mVVL9bNKRNKRLqhp9

The field is on a road named: Major Stephen W Pless Medal of Honor Wy. Pless was a Marine Helicopter pilot who received the MOH during Viet Nam, he earned the Medal of Honor, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, a Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and 32 Air Medals. Over the course of his time in Vietnam, Pless flew a total of 780 combat missions.

What does that have to do with motorcycles? Following Nam he returned to Pensacola as an instructor. In one of those tragic twists of fate he was killed while riding his motorcycle across the drawbridge which connected the city of Pensacola to Pensacola Beach; his motorcycle plunged off the end of the open bridge into the water.

Thanks for the trivia Tom. That is a lot of hard earned medals for one brave man. And thanks for another place for me to visit. The map directions are in my inbox.
