Where did you ride today?

I'm glad the Holiday traffic was over today so I went for a good long ride. One of my favorite subjects to look for and make a picture is "Plane on a Pole". Static displays of aircraft.

Another really nice day. Sunny and around 90F.
Needed to go shopping so off I go on the AK. Ended up with just over 29 miles for a 3 mile shopping trip. Just a little ride in the country.
Had to get several bundles of yard waste bags and a few other groceries (on sale you know). The yard waste bags got strapped on the passenger seat and the rest went under the seat.
Just bringing home the bacon. No... really... bacon was on sale.

After letting a storm roll by, I jumped on the 2010 :bl13: and rode it down to Gunlock Utah. A total of 172 miles, round trip.

This road is to an Indian Reservation and visitors, are not welcome! :box1:

This is Gunlock Falls. They have been making a big deal out of it, since it actually has water coming down.

I was actually quite aways from it.

And this is what it usually looks like:

GunlockFalls-dry.jpg

A few fellows munching on the grass at the side of the road. I also had to slow down for three cows, but I saw at least 10 around the road, here and there.

This is the lake, above the falls. From what I understand, the falls only happen once in a great while. But with all the snow we got this year, the lake is very full!

Just got back with my wife from Sutter Creek yesterday. 2 shots from the Seattle area to California and 2 days back.
Was down researching my Great Grandmother, got a huge amount of information and got a huge amount of help from Amador County Archives. Once you get past the tourist people they are really friendly and like to talk about how much has changed.
Actually found a woman that did health and wellness checks on her when she was a social worker in Amador County and remembered her. I was really surprised.
Got rained on pretty heavy on last day and butt was a little sore.

My friend (not very local to me) wanted to go for a ride on Friday evening but she wasn't able to, so I joked that I'd have to go in her stead. Actually, I wanted to try out my new windscreen and perhaps see the sunset, so I decided to go to the top of "the Granites", the northernmost bit of the Moorfoot hills that are a few miles south-east of Edinburgh. I was too early for the sun actually setting, so I rode towards Innerleithen to waste a bit of time before planning to turn round, but was enjoying myself enough that I just rode all the way, so I ended up doing the full loop via Peebles and back up the main road towards Edinburgh. It's about a 50 mile round trip, and it was a perfect summery evening with no wind at all and almost no traffic – but I'm the kind of rider who'd often rather ride slower than faster.

The windscreen is the taller one from Bike-quip and has a nice flipped-up top edge that really works for this tall, lanky gal. I also recently got a new HJC helmet which is only about a hundred times better than my outgoing Shark that I've been using for the last, er, 15 years; it was completely worn out. The improvement from the new screen and helmet was amazing.
