What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

It appears your mate didn't read enough Z-H2 reviews and ride reports in the moto-press, before pulling the trigger.
That's GOT to be recorded somewhere ...one would think.
But it shouldn't take too long to roll up 350km's... then he'll leave you in raucous, wailing, inline-4 howls of acceleration.
 
I took my bike out finally yesterday for a ride. While riding I noticed the battery was not charging, based on my battery monitor. I turned around to go home, get home and notice it is charging, turn around again, ride a bit, not charging again and took it home. Tomorrow will be spent trying to figure out what is going on.

Today, I did the following:

- Removed rear wheel for tire change, switching from Exedra to the BT-020 Battlax after the Exedra is down on the wear bars after 7,500 miles

- Cleaned/Inspected splines on both sides, they look great at 125K!

- Removed/Inspected brake pads...gonna put new ones in since I have the wheel off because the last set made a horrible grinding sound (no rotor damage) from about 2 MPH to 0 MPH...VERY annoying in all of the training classes I love to attend!

- Located coolant leak, looked at the radiator neck bypass/coolant tank hose, and either it or the upper radiator hose is bad. Gonna replace both since I have the plastic off and the upper rad hose is only $17....Honda wants $28 for the coolant tank hose!! Pretty sure I can find similar hose at auto parts place for cheaper.

- Replaced left side wing cover....lost mine somewhere while riding a while back...to be fair, it had touched the ground 3 times and was looking a bit haggard anyway. Of course, the new one is not faded, so I'll be ordering a right side cover soon :)

That's it for now, waiting to get the new tire and re-moly the splines, put her back together, and attend (again!) the Edmond PD Civilian Motorcycle School in Edmond, OK scheduled for end of April.

Taught by the Edmond Motor Officers, absolutely the most challenging training I have attended.

Training = instinct, so I will probably try to get into the Ready 2 Ride course at OSU-OKC again this season as well.

For you Okie/North Texas riders, did I mention they are both FREE courses?

Nice day for a change, (Dry, 12*C and no wind) so ideal chance to get "LOX" out for a short run. Up along the coast as far as Pennan, which is a quaint little fishing village on the North East coast of Scotland.
Pennan was firmly put on the "tourist map" as being one of the prime locations for the 1983 film "Local Hero", about a US oil mogul trying to buy a Scottish village.

Loved that movie. Mark Knofler soundtrack and memorable performance by Burt Lancaster alongside many unknown Scottish actors. Very sweet...

That said you keep posting this stuff like this and I'll have to get on a plane, invade your countryside and drink my fill of all the single malt you can spare. And then send some back to the states where I'll drink it some more!

Well yesterday my gauges arrived back from BlueGauges.com - white backlighting on all the major areas with red needles and amber turn indicator LEDs too.

Today my Chinese knockoff of the GIPro gear indicator arrived so I had the chance to smoke test them both and they passed with flying colors. Identical set up process as for the GIPro. Plug it in, run it up through the gears on the center stand until it registers the next gear. Quite easy, but still very disconcerting.

I'll be posting more in the ST1300 tech section as I do the install. I have a couple ideas about the gear indicator mounting that I'd like to bounce off the hive mind. I'd like to place it in the lower right quadrant of the speedometer directly below the MPH label.

Here are some teaser pictures. First challenge may be to figure out how to eradicate the 'HONDA' from the gear indicator. Maybe some light buffing with toothpaste?

The FI LED works, but goes off after just a few seconds and I wasn't able to capture both the turn indicators and FI light illuminated at the same time.

That being said.. the don't look terrible and for less than $130 bucks... maybe not a bad option.

I didn't say that... lol

Looks like they don't come off without unbolting from the rack.. curious how they were fitted on the police bikes.
