What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

The fuel isn't changing anything. Aftermarket mufflers usually have lower backpressure than factory and that sometimes results in a leaner air/fuel ratio. Reading your plugs should tell you if that's happening.
doesn't the O2 sensor keep the fuel ratio in stoichiometric ??

The O2 sensor affects exhaust gases outside the combustion chamber after combustion with a different function altogether doesn't it?
NO, how can a sensor effect something that has already happened? In short an O2 sensor measures exhaust gasses so that the ECM can make fuel adjustments to keep emissions at a minimum. 14.7 to 1 is most efficient fuel/air ratio, stoichiometric .

I STarted inSTalling a 3rd brakelight and STrobe flasher unit.

The previous owner had already run a wire from the brake light to under the pillion seat, so I replaced the rear reflector with one that had 6 LED's in it and wired in an eBay strobe unit. (hmmmm is it still considered a 3rd brake light if it's lower......)

They also make strobe units for non LED lights (they handle a higher current load.)

The result is an (hopefully) attention grabbing brake light to compliment the main lights that don't flash.

For reference the reflector below the plate is just a sticker.

I just velcroed a red LED module in that same place and connected it to the brakes. It has it own built in flashing modes, no external controller needed, apart from current loading which affects the flash speed apparently. Actually I like the demo mode cause it looks erratic as it quickly goes through the various flashing patterns. This makes for a real eye catcher, and that is the whole idea.

Looks like a brake light works like a brake light must be a brake light - as far as any civilian is concerned. Third brake lights have been mounted in a lot even on a top box. I mounted my factory reflector in the space meant (I think) for the big square plated used in other countries. It's not as efficient but that's the least of my worries.

Your local constabulary will have the last word. Most of us have found police don't really worry about the fine details of lights and lighting if you don't provoke 'em. There's always the exception to the norm - the cop that puts in 8/12hrs work for 8/12hrs pay. It's always good to know the law for your neck o' the woods.

I've never heard of pipes changing fuel/air ratios. ?? If the fuel does nothing why would we look at it...?????..in retrospect I'm trying to increase backpressure to regain low end torque.
My question to Delkevic is...by increasing baffle area in the muffler can I increase backpressure due to less volume in chamber.
I wonder if Delkevic knows.
I know that switching from an aftermarket can to stock on my VFR made a big improvement in low end torque. Especially pulling away from stops.

I don't know, waiting for their response. I'm sure restriction will increase backpressure but I'd like something engineered rather than just adding packing. We'll see....

An after-market exhaust is usually intended for a rider who wants greater performance, which means greater acceleration. They expect to have to rev the engine in the upper range to get that extra performance. It's to be expected that the factory exhaust imparts greater low-RPM torque compared to most after-market systems.

An exhaust system can not increase power at all RPM, especially without additional engine modification. A system designed for high-RPM acceleration can not perform well at low RPM, and vice versa. The greater the performance boost, the narrower the RPM range of that boost, at the cost of performance outside that "power band".

Well I have an upside down triangle on the other bike and it's never been an issue in 9 years. (3 lights on a bar under the top case, the dual bulb factory tail light, and an identical 6LED reflector under that.)

Are you still running a plug and play supplemental temp probe?

Oil and filter change. Final gear oil change. Nice to have a heated garage (only 5C outside). Sucks to be on my knees, though. Gotta get a proper motorcylce lift....any suggestions?

Someone, maybe @beemerphile, recently posted a thread along the lines of A leads to B, which in turn leads to C etc. I thought about it today when figuring out why the high level brake light wasn't working. I got up to F in the end, along the lines of that F'in hurt when I lost some thumb skin. It'll be a good excuse to replace the rear bulbs and make sure the rear brake is nice and free.
It must be that time of the year.
