What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Decided to dump a 2 gallon can of gas in the ST to top it off when I moved the can slightly and poured gas all over the tank. I pulled it out to wash off just the tank and 45 minutes later I had washed, and waxed the whole bike with 3 coats back on the gas tank again.

Given that you are asking, I take it the axle doesn’t normally clear the exhaust.
The Penske shock on mine allows just enough clearance.
Correct you are. With an OEM suspension the mufflers must be rotated away from the rear wheel to allow the axle to be removed.

Two funeral escorts today:
1. For a Vietnam era special operator. Full military honor guard, patriot guard bikers and many of his comrades
2. One of our own died of heart failure, so dozens of us escorted him and his family to the church and to his resting place. We had two freeways to our selves.

Hello,
I've recently joined the ST community.
Bought mine about 2 weeks ago. Rode it about 600 miles in the first week. Live in Washington State, Rode to Orcas Island, up to Ferndale, over to Diablo Lake and back.
Love this machine so far. 04, just about to hit 24k miles on it. Going to go through and give it all new fluids and tires in the next month or so.

Replaced the fuel cap assembly on my 2006. At some point in its life, someone scratched it quite deeply. No clue how that was done without damage of any sort to the tank. My OCD came out a bit every time I cleaned the bike, fueled it or glanced at the instruments while on a ride. Two plusses...no more scratch to fret over, and another part to restore. Little job, big improvement in appearance.

Welcome to the forum from Cornwall UK! Congratulations on the new ST.

I unplugged mine from the battery tender yesterday after sitting since early shine. I then rode 330 miles to Meridian, Tx. to visit Fergie at the ranch. I rode it back home today. I still enjoy that bike after 12 years of trouble free service. It still runs like the day I bought it new. I’m taking it to ArkanSTOC a week from Thursday. With any luck I will hit 100K this year on it. Less than 3,700 miles to go.

Bike has been off the road since October 2018 due to a coolant leak that I never got to. Been travelling to China for work every month from Oct through April so had no time to look at it until May this year. Discovered when i went to move bike to start on it that I had no clutch, slave cylinder!. Ordered parts to replace it. got rear wheel off and decided to change rubber too while i was waiting on parts, clean brake caliper, clean and lube spines etc. Well the clutch slave arrived and after watching a few youtube videos and reading a few articles on here decided it would take me two to three hours to complete, wrap up the backend and then start on the coolant leak investigation.

Well the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft aglay! no such luck. what a pain in the posterior this job is. I took it apart 6 weeks ago and after that exercise i put off the re-assembly until today, when after 4 hours of concrete floor aerobics and yoga did i get it back in place, all in a balmy 90F.

Now i need to figure out where the hoses underneathe the bike route as it's been so long since i moved them. Any advice on hose routing greatly apprecitated.

What did I do this afternoon? Uh, not much.
Just hung out with the Mad Yoda. His dentures are heading to RaceTech on Tuesday.6404D048-849F-46EC-A773-E96FD71F66D8.jpegC12EEDF9-6216-4EEF-A645-366EA96F3F63.jpeg

Checked fluids, went over battery terminals, accessory terminals, fuses, relay plugs. Checked bolt torque front and rear, checked air compressor, brake pads, charging voltage, idle speed, engine oil, gearoil replaced, tool bag reviewed. Shakedown ride this weekend.

Rode the 06 to work today after completing front and rear tire changes, oil change and new rear pads. Tonight I installed a handle bar bridge RAM and F2 lights. 679921A6-ED3F-455F-BEB9-90AD66DA7ED7.jpeg03F097CA-AC12-4D19-A9CC-FB152B6DD479.jpeg

Mounted new rubber left footage. Received rear Michelin PR-4 and gandered at it for awhile.

Took an early morning cruise on SR79 through Cuyamaca Rancho State Park through Julian. Several stops along the way to enjoy the view north of Cuyamaca Lake and another overlooking the Anza Borrego above Banner. Caught a cool pocket of morning air in Descanso. The air temp went from 75F at Interstate 8 to 63F at the Descanso Junction (about 1.5 miles distance). A delightful Saturday a.m. ride with little traffic.
