What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Rode it to the end of the street to get this year's inspection done, then downtown so I could get a haircut (well, all of them) and then to a local gun shop to get a pound of power to load some test rounds so I can work on fine tuning a hunting rifle for longer range (300 - 500 yards) shots. Realized I had put less that 3,000 miles on it last year .... Sigh.

I dropped the damn thing in the driveway. It has a good slope and I never park there....big mistake. Broke the right mirror, pride and heart. Mirror on order.
Welcome to the tip over club.
It's a question of when not if.

Sorry to hear. Good news is the damage can be fixed, heart will heal, no other injuries.

+1 All true! And it could have been worse especially for the bike! There could have been a

busted mirror cover
busted turn signal lens
bent fairing stay
scuffed/broken pannier

...and who knows what all. Sure your hurt will heal but busted bike bits cost money! :rofl1:

Changed oil and filter at 47,000km, not sure if I was late for 45,000km or early for 50,000km. Either way I made a mess, I always seem to spill some oil on the garage floor.

Picked-up some oil earlier in the day at the local Autobarn, guy told me the oil I selected wasn't suitable for motorcycles, I said that was funny as last time his colleague told me it was. The specs on the label indicated it was. I hate it when the professionals don't know the products they sell.

Waited (impatiently) for the tires and brake pads to arrive at my local shop, so I can get the bike in for service ahead of my BRP trip which starts in a week.

Gave Leroy a good bath and a little STOC 673 pride...

Ever since I got my bike back from my mechanic, the horn gave a weak meh, instead of the normal Steble 109dB WAH!.
The mechanic was debugging an electrical issue, where the bike wouldn't start. He thought that the horn didn't work, because it had sat idle so long.
Today, I removed the right fairing, and reversed the wires to the horn. Mr. Steble is back to normal! Apparently, he disconnected it during his troubleshooting, and reversed the leads when he re-connected it.

I bought my '91 ST1100 today at 4:30pm and rode it home. I replaced the windshield with a shorter one and broke one of the windshield screw seats (sigh). Old plastic is delicate.

I'm happy to be here! And I already love the bike. I hope to be putting many miles on her.

cheers,

Matthew

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your '91.

Installed a new ABS sensor for the rear wheel.
Had been having intermittent failures while riding. Stopping and switching the ignition off then on had been getting it working again.
I checked the fault codes and it reported "6" which was the rear sensor. On Wednesday I decided to check the sensor, removed it and cleaned it (there was some muck across the face) and put it all back. I didn't get the chance for a test ride, but was quietly confident...duhh!
Thursday I decided to go off island for a run and was greeted by solid red lights. Checked the air gap etc etc, but still red lights.
Read a few articles (thanks to this forum and Mr Heath's posts), then ordered a new sensor from the Honda dealer in Glasgow.
Got a message late on Saturday morning that the part was in, headed off on the ferry with the bike and had a pleasant run up to the city.
Picked it up, had a browse around the store while I was there and got a new pair of summer gloves, then headed for home.
Made it back to the ferry terminal without getting soaked, however the rain arrived while heading over to the island and I got a good soaking on the ride home. Put the bike in the garage, got changed and headed off for a social evening with family.
So today I pulled some bodywork, removed the old sensor, fitted the new one (had a struggle getting the plug on the wire up between the fuel tank and part of the frame, struggling for 20 minutes and then - voila - it slipped through without problem !! ).
Checked the air gap etc, put the bodywork back on, backed the bike out of the garage, drove it up the drive and the lights went out....result!
Took it for a test ride on some fairly rough roads (plenty of them on this island) and all is well.

Happy bunny

Well done. Glad you got it sorted out.
Have a great summer.

Added a low pass filter to the 2-way radio power and ground, and virtually all the STP alternator noise has been eliminated. The BT Sena comms are better too. Wish I had thought of this earlier because the high freq alt whine and feedback were messing up my comms with others, and now its so clear.

Outside dropping off the trash yesterday, just after the sun popped up. I noticed several little fast, brown streaks cross my drive at the curb. Mice. They were running along the curb and into the drain between our house and the neighbor's. So....I checked the air filters on the 1100 and 1300. Nothing mouse related but I changed them out anyway. Being more than a bit OCD, I couldn't stop there. Changed fluids, filters, bled the brakes, checked the charging system connectors and looked for leaks. Nothing notable. Darned ST's. So, now I'm worried. This is my October task.
