What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Rode home in a blinding thunderstorm, that began the minute I stepped outside the office.
No biggie, put the rain gear on, only takes a couple extra minutes.
I learned this pair of rain pants (of 3 pairs) is no longer waterproof at all. At least, not in a frog strangler.
Got home in 18 minutes, and the rain quit the second I pulled into the driveway.
Wet bike and microfiber cloth makes for a quick "spit bath" for the bike.
It looks better.
And I was absolutely soaked from the waist down.

I had this pleasure Friday past. Weather guys had been promising rain daily starting the previous Tuesday...clouds, not even a sprinkle. So, I went for a ride Friday morning and was about halfway home when the rain started. I was completely drenched by the time I got home. I haven't had that pleasure in some time.

Made bracket for front seat. Converted my PA to civilian but did not have hold down bracket so i made one. A little crude but no one will see it except on here.

After getting the parts last week, I had planed on RnR the Speed Sensor yesterday. But due to my new office desk, I had to assemble that instead.

So today I decided to RnR it.

PIA, after realizing I had to remove the right side main fairing, and the rightside crash bar and such, which made it very easy to get to that connector. Sometimes I would love to take one of the designing engineers and MAKE the do the work! I'm sure they would have made it a little easier, since it really isn't a hard job once you can get to things! :well1:

I still need to go out an install the belly fairing, but lunch got in the way!

Back at I go! :thumb:

That's when i wash the ST. Rain already loosens the dirt and bugs so a quick wash and leaf blower and it looks pretty good.

That's precisely what Mr Honda used to do. Prototype bike in the shop, he had the designers there with him...'You, change the clutch', and so on. Much in the way of struggling and a redo was in order.

It's too bad he's still not around! :well1:

Picked mine up from the dealer! Took 3 months to mount the seat, install driving lights, and switch the headlights to LEDs. Only $1900 dollars! They blamed COVID, parts on back order, terrible instructions, me, solar flares, you name it! To say I’m not happy is a massive understatement!
Took it on its maiden voyage: 73 miles. Starts, stops, turns and shifts as it should, and needs a Laamseat. I have Moto-Charlie’s Throttlemeister, and a fenda extenda. A cup holder and an LED flag, and a engraved plate. Piaa driving lights on PA brackets. Pictures to follow! Fits like a glove, and I look forward to seeing many miles on this one. Wonderful motorcycle. So light in comparison to the Wing! Nimble, quicker, better. Not to mention beautiful!

New front shoe for Brego. Had trouble sourcing my first two choices (tire shortages, really?) so settled on my third; a Battlaxe T32. Frustratingly had it mounted in a shop but got lucky no further scratches added to the rim. Always a bonus. Had them install the T-valve stem and I installed my new TPMS.
With the wheel off, did a full @jfheath front brake cleaning and service. Fair amount of grime but no replacement parts needed. Greased calipers and boots. Put everything back together but I had to reset the inboard pad on the right caliper as I had not set it beyond the two notches (for lack of a better word) on the spring clip. Thanks John for making me check ;) (Article on brake service). Avoided having some real issues and having to take everything apart again.
Test ride; happy to report that the bike stopped :thumb: and showed no signs of drag through the various heating and subsequent cooling of the brake rotors plus the downhill acceleration test. All good. Thanks to all including @Mellow for the cleaning tips.
Let’s ride!

Busy weekend. New tyres on Friday (changed from Avon 3ds to Bridgestone Battlax T023 and added 90 degree valve stems). When getting front wheel balanced heard a grumbling noise, so on Saturday morning replaced bearings in the front wheel and fitted new front disks at same time. Also new brake pads all round. (68000 miles on original disks). Took her out for a ride over some windy hilly roads and was getting bugged by my centre stand clipping the road when the bike bounced in some unexpected dips. Its been doing this occasionally ever since I got it 4 years ago, but it finally got on my wick enough to make me fix it. Simple job, just took the stand spring off and bent the ends round a little more to shorten the spring and give a bit more tension, job sorted. Took her out again today and rode 200 miles or so in fantastic sunny weather through Teesdale and Weardale. New rubber, good brakes and no centre stand clatter. Happy biker me, although I'm lamentably shorter in the folding spending department. Mind you, its still the best chill out therapy I know and worth every penny.

Last full day blast of the season before winter sets in at Southwestern British Columbia.
If you're ever near Vancouver, the Duffy Lake Road (DLR) or sometimes referred to as the Duffy Lake Loop is still one of my all time favourites after decades of riding far and wide. On Oct 8th - we hit 3 degrees celsius at the summit of the pass before dropping back down into the Whistler / Pemberton area. The Duffy Lake area received a massive dump of snow the following day, so timing is everything!

Took my GF with her NT700VA on a 340km ride; possible the laST for this season, as morning temps are in the single digits (°C that is...)
the natural aSpiraTed ST1100 juST loves that cold, dense air... empty, dry roads, you can guess the reST... ;)

I got out with my ADV buddy for a backroads run from Berkeley to San Jose, and for some reason I think I lost interest in the ADV segment. Too popular makes the used market too pricey for a cheapskate like me, but if Honda rolls out a new 750 Transalp, maybe..

LOL - I sold my 2016 AT in August 2021 and took 1/2 the cash to buy a 2007 ST1300 with 14,000Km on the clock. I loved the AT, but after 5 years of fun, I found I was having too my injuries taking it on trails I had no right to be on and frankly had to remove the temptation. Now I have an XT250 to deal with the dirt "itch" and it is a bloody goat! Then I have the ST1300 for the touring duties I enjoy. So yeah, it's all about having the right tool for the job!
