Pictures of different ST police bikes?

All this Police talk is good, but we all know that even Cops want to grow up to be Firemen!:bow1::biker:

Fire bikes from Malaysia. One of my goals during my career is to start a motor unit in my FD....wish me luck!

I think Austin Texas FD is using ST's or BMW's. Rumor...I have to get confrimation. And H-D has a FD version the sell for FD's. Eh OK I guess since the FD gang does not ride like the PD gang does!:D

I've been trying to talk our FD chief into getting bikes for our FD. Firefighters do very little of what their job title implies nowadays. Something like (don't quote me on this number) 75% of the calls for service are medical calls, sick people, heart attacks, etc. If they sent two paramedics on bikes, preferably on ST1300's :), to a heart attack call their response time would improve tremendously thus highly increasing the chance of survival. After the person was being treated, or is by now stabilized, the rescue vehicle would be on scene with other personnel to transport them to an area hospital. Currently our FD rolls a fire engine and a heavy rescue truck/ambulance to every call. The rescue has 2 or 3 firefighters and the engine has 4 on it. If you get to medical call in our county with two engines and two rescues you'll damn near trip over all the fire personnel on that scene. LOL! They claim their theory is that if they have to respond from that scene they can do so more efficiently. ??? I don't understand that one...I asked, what if the call you had to respond to was only yards away from the station house and now you're 5 miles away on this call where someone sprained their ankle? "Protocol", I'm told. Seems like a big waste to me. I wonder how many times they've been on scene of one of those waste of time calls (ie, my tooth hurts) and they needed to respond to a four alarm fireworks factory burning to the ground call? LOL! Seems to me the bikes would make more since and leave the huge fire engine full of hoses and water at the FD for fighting fires. At least on Rescue 51 that's what they did. LOL! Any Firefighters out there to comment? I sure know that if I was hurt or dying I'd rather have a couple of highly trained firefighters be able to haul a$$ to the scene on bikes and get to work fixing me as apposed to waiting for the big lumbering fire engines to slowly respond... .

Sacramento (CA) City Fire is working on a motor-medic program. One of our instructors in motor school was a city fire guy and went on our road rides with his medic kit. Unfortunately, they were using BMW's. He road my STP and really liked it though.

With the buget "crisis" we now have, I would suspect the motor-medic program is off the table right now.

Ah, yes now I see. Thanks. Some of us down in Texas wear them (Seasonal), but not many. The 3/4 is the norm, BUT some agencies still have folks wearing 1/2 shells here and there!:eek:4:

NorCalBusa, 2 questions:

1--Is that Silver ST w /black fairing in the photo a P model for a nearby agency?

2--Are you anywhere near Red Bluff, CA? [I'm leading our Blue Knights, Bend chapter, down there to do Hiway 36 on Memorial Weekend.]

Its a civilian model, but several agencies are choosing to go withthe black side fairings. Turns out buying them black from Honda is cheaper than painting existing ones.

The shop is in Hollister, about an hour south of San Jose. Hwy 36 (hwy 101 to the coast) is one of the finest motorcycle runs in the country- we take a group ride a couple times a year up there and don't come home until the tires are shredded. You will have a great time!

Here's a couple "fun" shots...

The first one was kind of tough to get... He was doing 487 mph in a 25 zone... :scared2:

The second was the Coronado version of "Tiananmen Square"... ;)

Well, thank you, sir... I'm humbled...

And, no, I can't get the Motor Jock out of my blood...
Phrases like, "That's mildly interesting, ma'am..." , "Just go two lights and make a right...", or the ever popular, "Press hard, there's three copies..." just seem to flow from me now...

That last phrase is dating you...It is REALLY hard to do that with these new PDA citation writers! :p:
