Itchy Boots

....., we’ve got to get our brave lady to Tuktoyaktuk before the snow flies. ....

John

This is the kind of creepy stalker stuff I was talking about. :D
Also, I’m not at all interested in Noraly’s love life. I don’t need or want to know about it (nor to read others’ conjectures about it) and I hope she continues to keep that part of her life private.
...............

Would kind of kill the fantasy, eh? ;)

I'm not the one calling her "our" brave lady. Note the laughing emoji? It's a joke.

The one thing that I was concerned about in Monday's video is when the "red light" came on.

... I would have thought Noraly would power off the bike and get the manual out or maybe do a quick 'Net search.

There are countless replies to that video about that light ... it's the "check coolant level" warning light. First thing, turn the bike off.

Turn on , but don't start it ... is the fan running?
Check coolant level. etc etc

She was running that bike at high elevation, going uphill in 1st-2nd gear for an extended period of time over rocky terrain. Basically, running it a bit hard.

Yea, I know, the light went off, but still - there's a reason for warning lights on the dash.

Noraly is in Yellowstone National Park staying in Gardiner.
This video felt a little short but once again is was very entertaining. She delivered the geothermal info concisely and with great aplomb. Nicely done. The vinyl on my seat would have been subjected to a huge stress test that close to a bison.

I'm not surprised she did so well in explaining the geothermal info. ;) Wasn't she a geologist for a petroleum company in her previous life?

Her buffalo experience was tame. :D I went to Yellowstone during the lockdowns. The road from the North Entrace to Old Faithful had a stretch that was under construction. Just dirt. So on the morning I was leaving, I decided to go down that road to see one more thing. A water truck had just gone through to spray water to help keep the dust down. There were lots of pot holes, and now I had to worry about mud.

So ahead of me are 4 SUVs. They are going slow, just crawling along. Coming along the left side is a buffalo. He (yes, I checked, it was a he) decided to cross in front of the last SUV to the right side. He's coming down the right side. I've held back so I have some space to maneuver in case I need it. But to keep my distance from that last SUV, I'm feathering the throttle.

Mr. Buffalo took supreme umbrage at that and decided I was challenging him! He was past me and now has turned around and is running toward me! Meanwhile, the SUV stops!!! I think they wanted to take pictures of my last moments of life.

Thankfully, the SUV driver realized there was a panicked motorcycle rider behind them and started moving. Mr. Buffalo gave up after a couple hundred feet and went on his way. And I breathed a sigh of relief.

Yes but just because somebody is knowledgable about a subject doesn't mean they can explain it clearly and concisely. That is either a gift or a skill that is not a given. I just wanted to acknowledge her performance.

Aren't they all. Until they aren't. But sure she wasn't rollerskating in a buffalo herd.

Ok that didn't go well. Here's the link. Just parse it correctly if you're of a mind.

So it's an elk not a bison. I don't know which is faster. But it's all fun and games 'till the bike stalls. I'm sure the elk was just having fun with no violent intent. Besides how much damage could a little ol' elk do.

But ya never know what kind of day a bison was having and it could decide to toss you out of your trousers. Fortunately this one was mellow. Not that Mellow is a bison. Maybe he's an Elk but I don't know if he's the Lodge type.

She needs to realize bears are not cute, cuddly animals that make for nice video. She should give them a wide berth and keep moving. Too many times she sees them in the distance and rolls up on them only to stop and watch them lumber off. If one decides to do a u-turn and charge.....

I think she's smarter than the average bear and realizes the potential danger and does risk analysis. Just because she appreciates the cute cubs yadda yadda doesn't mean she isn't cautious. If she parked the bike and walked towards them to get a better pic/vid/selfie there'd be cause for concern. In the two sightings I saw she stopped but never approached and never dismounted.

A grizz can move about ~35mph top speed. At ~45–55yds she bid adieu while mama was just lumbering along. I'd wager she could pilot Alaska significantly faster in that terrain. Da bears make a u-turn she can make a wrist turn and Yogi (yeah I know) and Boo Boo or whoever are even smaller specs in her rearview.
