How fast have you had your ST?

I was riding with a friend going down the interstate doing about 80 and I looked over and he was sending a text while riding his GSXR. :nuts1: I told him he was crazy, he said he does it all the time.

135 indicated for about 10 seconds, between the eastern edge of Kaibob National Forest and Medicine Lodge (?) Arizona on the way back to Lake Powell. Something very calming about rocketing alongside the Vermillion Cliffs, with nothing but desert to the right and nothing but a downhill, downwind run.

85 from the Navajo Bridge to Page seemed downright pedestrian after that. ;)

4 pm. 95 degrees no wind. !35 mph is 4th gear. One rider and side bags on.
Rider 180 lbs with all gear on. 1 gal. in tank.

I had a corner coming up so I didn't check the tack. I just went to 135 and back off.

It still had more to go in 4th.

I don't think I would have gained anything if I had gone to 5th.

I did it in 4th as I didn't have a lot of room.

Anyone have any idea about what RPM I would have been running at 135? (I almost afraid to ask)

I've taken my 1300 up to 220km/h with stock windscreen. Today 190km/h with brand new Givi specific windscreen for 1300 and it was very steady.:)

I think I hit 130 once passing up a line of cars on ortega highway. It was one of the 2 straigt sections at the bottom on the orange county side. My buddy and I were behind a line of cars. I down shifted to 3rd and opened the throttle all the way. I shifted up to 4th and 5th probably about 6000 RPM, not sure cause I was keeping my eye on the road. As I passed the last car I backed off the throttle and got back in the right lane. I then finally glanced at the speedo and pasing thru 110. Maybe I only hit 120 or 125. I have seen the speedo hit 120 a couple of timed. I usually cruise between 80 or 90. Anything slower than 75 on the CA freeways and you will get run over if your not in the slow lane.

pegged the speedo today. It is WAY off according to the Zumo 660 which I think was 147 when I looked down OOPS. My last bike was a 954 and hit 160 on a daily basis. I didn't buy the ST for land speed records but really enjoy the power for such a heavy bike.

all "speedo indicated,"

90-100 all the time..
120 every now and then...
135 rarely...

once...155 with a tail wind, still had a bit left, may have hit 160 but needed to exit.

I experience a "slight" wobble around 45 MPH, and my bike also tends to "weave" around 75 - 80 MPH.
That being said, I've done short spurts of speed, sometimes up to 120 MPH indicated on the GPS, I've noticed the speedo is off by about 9 MPH compared to the GPS, and gets worse the faster you go.
This is my touring bike, not my speedster, until I figure out what is making it wobble and weave, I'll leave the high speed runs to my Buells.

135 according to my GPS. I was at 5000' elevation and it wasn't wanting to go much faster. I checked the tach and I figure that based on speed vs tach speed it should redline in 5th gear at 140. it was rock steady.

I had a large Givi top box on one time and it wobbled really bad at about 120.

Years ago speed was never a problem for me. And even after getting thrown off at 65mph I still have had my bikes above 100 a few times. But I find the more I ride the less I like speed. I might cruise around 80 if the road is clear, but I'm very seldom over 90 (for short bursts to get around some one) any more. :eek:4:

Well, just yesterday had'er up to 100 indicated on freeway which was 5000 rpm. Had a big smooth section of dry freeway with large gap in traffic so i just rolled it on and hit it briefly before coming back down. Felt pretty good like it could do it all day, no wobbles, but I need a little taller shield to reduce the turbulence.

143mph/ 230kph GPS indicated for about 10 minutes:grin::grin::grin::wave1::grin::grin::grin:

But enjoy the slow rides cause they last longer!!!

I have no GPS. The Speedometer read 149 mph (2008 Red) No shakes or shimmys.

I like to ride it between 75-90 mph.

There is a road going from Vail to Steamboat Springs, Co. that goes across a high mesa for many miles in a straight line about as far as I could see. The wife started beating on my back when she seen the 145 indicated. I know there was more to go... By the way if you have ever ridden this road, you know there is a 90 degree turn at the long end of the run that makes no sense. It truly is in the middle of nowhere. It was a good time to back er down anyway. Takes lots of brakes and a ton of asphalt to get back to 30 for that corner. There are too few markings for high speed runs on most roads and this is no exception, but as long as you know where it is, it is dead flat, WFO and fun !! (rock steady even with Ma)
