Highway 93 - Another Uncle Phil Adventure

Is the new seat noticeably better, same or worse than the seat you rode out on? :devilish:

If I'm not mistaken, he rode out on a Russell. I haven't seen Phil riding on anything but a Russell since '02 or so.

Nope, Phil did a ride-in to the Russell shop; the pic is a few posts earlier. He had it made to his butt's specs, onsite, reducing possibility of error.
The best way to buy a Russell, and you don't have to send your seat pan to them.

I rode in on a 8 year old 100,000 mile Russell.
Mike, the owner's son built the new one - he is a real master builder!
It is such a perfect fit, that I told Jay today to let him rebuild the old one that I left for them to ship back.
He just nailed the fit, support, and form on the new seat.
They do not allow any customers back in the seat building area - more than likely due to insurance issues.

Just got to the motel when the storm I had hit earlier caught up with me - lots of big hail. pouring rain and lightning.

Ride looks amazing. Added to my bucket list rides. I have done a few 500-600 mile rides but not more), so it would be helpful if the 'masters' of long rides can share tips on how to prepare for them. I searched around on the forum but couldnt find much towards this. I can start a separate thread if there is interest.
There is a difference between 'IBA' stuff like a 50CC or a Saddlesore to touring distances.
Here's a link to my website about planning a trip that you might find helpful -

Just be aware that it is not the mileage that is the major factor - it is the 'seat time'.
Obviously 8 hours in the saddle on the interstate covers more mileage than 8 hours down the Natchez Trace. ;)

I've scheduled a ride-in at Russell Daylong (a little bit of a detour! ;)) so I can get a 4th RDL for my ST1100s - that way each lady will have her 'own' RDL.
Why do you need 4 separate seats for the 4 different, but same bike? You plan on losing weight and shrinking? You taking offers for RDL ST1100's. Best I can figure, I can only sit on 1 at at time. 2 cheeks, 1 butt. They remove & install rather easy. Put the key in on the left side, lift & replace.:) From what I see, the demand for ST1100 accessories might decrease. OEM equipment might demand a premium. Just ask an Harley panhead owner, full stock or custom?

If you have to ask, you just don't understand ... ;)

Today (and tomorrow) are pretty much 'grind it out' days of 600+ miles each to get back to the Holler before the 4th.

Thanks for the picture UP. I'll be sure to stop there on my next trip to SD.

I didn't know about the "Dignity of Earth and Sky" statue before but I like it. Chamberlain SD I90 rest stop.
