Highway 93 - Another Uncle Phil Adventure

Made the run from Ely, NV to Redding, CA today so I can be at RDL in the morning for my seat build.
Coming down out of the mountains into Redding is like descending into an oven!
Got to spend some time on my old 'friend' - Highway 50 - in the process.
Here again tomorrow night then back to Ely to finish up Highway 93 where I left off.

Back to Ely in the morning via Lassen National Park.

interesting to see that much snow in late June in Lassen. Road elevations aren't as high as other parts of the Sierra, but it is one of the most northerly parts of the range. The few times I've been there in the summer there's no snow left at all.

They had just opened Hway 89 about 2 days before I got there.

Ride looks amazing. Added to my bucket list rides. I have done a few 500-600 mile rides but not more), so it would be helpful if the 'masters' of long rides can share tips on how to prepare for them. I searched around on the forum but couldnt find much towards this. I can start a separate thread if there is interest.

I didn't click the above links, but chances are, one of them takes ypu to the Iron Butt Association website. Of not, look that up as well.

There's a standard but well-respected list of 25 considerations and preps for your first long ride.

Have a bunch of credit cards, good towing insurance, patch kit, mini compressor, an interest in meeting strangers, a bag of DGAF and ride like the wind. Jmo
