Thanks Guys!! A really don't have a template for the plate, I just left a 2" tall tab for the mounting bolts and cut a slice off. Once I drilled the plate, I sanded the edges and rounded all corners. Then I put it on a press (sandwiched between two pieces of wood to prevent markings) and bent the tab approximately 30 degrees with a rubber mallet. I polished the plate, the extenders and the screw heads before installation.

I could make a cardboard cutout of the plate and mail it to you. Just let me know. In Puerto Rico 105.7 plays ROCK all day long.

I spoke with someone at Boaters World yesterday. The JBL MBB-Mini is still back ordered. They are still saying 2 to 4 weeks. They must be talking "dog" weeks.

I also tried calling ProSpec Electronics, thus far I have not received a return phone call.

I have been trying to decide whether to use a radio or just an AMP. After all, I'm mosty interested is using my iPod and XM2Go radio. Boaters World/ProSpec Electronics may make it an easier decision for me. I may give them just a few more days. I normally do not like dealing with companies that have delivery problems.

:clap2: :hat1: MY RADIO HAS SHIPPED:hat1: :clap2:

At 3:48pm today FedEx took delivery of my Radio. It will be at my empty apartment, oh crap!, on Monday. Luckily I am not turning in the keys until that Friday. Now I'm glad I didn't pay for express shipping. My Mill and all of the rest of my tools are boxed up for the move into our new house. The soonest I will be able to start working on it is Thursay 7/26.

Of course. My first order now shows canceled, second one still showing back ordered.

Yeah!!!!! I just got mine!! I Can't wait to install it probably tomorrow night. The head unit(remote) is much smaller than I expected, this is going to look great on the bike!!!!!!

"I've got 5000 radios you ordered, where should I unload?"

That settles it.

I am going over to boaters world site and ordering right now.

I can't wait to hear how the install goes!

Don, this is going beyond the pale to insert the shiv. Good one. :D

As the _second_ person to order, I feel let down. Mine will prolly show up the day _after_ I leave for WeSTOC. All the plastic is off again to do a bunch of other 'lectrical farkling. Maybe it'll show up right _after_ I get it reinstalled (which, coincidentally, will prolly be 10 minutes _before_ I leave for WeSTOC!)

Hey George,

Where do you intend to install the box on your 1100? Do you think it will fit in the compartment under the tail? I am assuming there is enough cable length to mount the control head up front.

One more question to those of you already in possession of the JBL unit... where is the aux audio jack located? On the box or the control head?

Dave, I'm thinking the box will go under the fairing near where the ABS bikes have that box. My tail piece on both bikes has the vacuum unit for the cruise control.

Got mine today, unforturnately everthing is packed for my move. I'm thinking I will get to it on Wednesday or Thursday.

Where does everyone think they are going to mount the control head. I am thinking I will mount on the left pocket cover just under the key lock. This will also keep me from having to use the extension cable they sent. There is just enough length in the cable coming out of the REM45 control head to mount of the pocket cover and still get to the bottom of the Black Box. The mounting will go easy. I am going to use some foam to waterproof the pass through. When I mocked it up today it looked like the controls will be easy to get to and see.

Also, I am using both polk DB401 speakers in the bike, front outputs, and running the rear outputs into my Starcom1. This way I don't have to have my helmet cable tapped into the bike intercom system to hear the radio or my MP3 player. I will just use those 45 watt dB401s. Since riders using the 10watt speakers in the Honda Radio said the sound was loud enough for around town, I'm thinking 45watts should be good enough highway. I was thinking I would use an audio step down transformer on the speaker outputs going into the Starcom1. You can buy the step down from your local autoparts store.

An audio step down transformer is commonly used when taking the output of a car stereo and runing into an external amplifier. Does anyone else think this is necessary? I thought I would put the step down under the seat right before the input into the Starcom1. I'm thinking I want to keep the signal levels high on the wiring until just before the Starcom to try and keep noise out of the system, SNR.

Mark,

How do you plan on attaching your Polk speakers to the Honda speaker boxes (assuming you are using them)?

Thus far I have been unable to find anything at my local h/w stores that will allow me to attach my DB401 speakers. Since the speaker boxes are sealed (except for wires & mouting holes) there is no way to get your hands in back of the speakers to secure a nut, etc. David Silver Spares does not offer the mounting h/w separate from the entire speaker kit. I'm off to check other h/w stores today.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
tman

I plan on using four tubes on each speaker as spacers. I will drill four holes on the back of the speakers in the same pattern as the holes on the front. I will run bolts through the rear holes, then add nuts to tighten the bolts against the rear housing. This will hold the bolts in place. I will slide on the spacers. The bolts should then be just poking out the front. I will then slap on the speakers and tighten down with nuts.

the aux jack is on the box not the remote. Also if you guysn have not figured this out already. You need to buy a Sirius reciever that plugs into the box to get Sat radio. They cost $99.00. I wish this was in the description of the radio on the boaters world site so I could have ordered it as well!!! Oh well.

Anyone mount speakers on their 11900? My wife will be using my old radio since I installed my ne JBL tonight!!!!n looks and sounds great!!! The remote is very small. Once I get my Sirius receiver I will have only one remote on the handlebars!!

Anyway any input on where to mount speakers for my wifes ST1100 would be helpfull.

Well I got my radio installed and took a test drive today. The remote is very small and I like it. The control buttons are easy to work and read. The sound (in my helmet speakers) is great. The only thing so far that might be an issue is the display is pretty bright and I don't think you can dim it, but I have not tried it at night yet. I am getting some static when i rev, not engine noise? this was happening with the other radio as well, I may net to us a different power or ground.
Anyone else have theirs in yet??
