G2 Tamer Thottle Tube

Funny....I bought them because I was a bit careless when I was installing my old Throttlemeister on the new bike. I did some damage to the end of the existing OEM throttle tubes. I needed to replace both sides....and I thought, "hey, might as well give these G2 things a try"....and the rest, is history.

LOL

Installed my tamer last night. Pretty quick job in itself but I had to change the grip heater too and that actually took more time. Rode the bike to work today and the take up in in fact noticeably smoother. Traffic was light and most of my commute is freeway so not a lot of chance to check in-town low speed performance but I'll probably hit more traffic tonight on the way home. One good thing is that I was concerned that the bike would feel sluggish with the tamer installed but I'm happy to report that this does not seem to be the case at all. I think the design of the throttle tube with the Delrin bushings helps contribute to the smooth feel as well. Seems like a keeper, will report further impressions as they accumulate.

Thanks Jeff... I'm curious, do you have the TT FPR installed?

Yes I do have the FPR (58 PSI). I thought the FPR did a good job of resolving the lean/flat spot at 3500RPM, but I never thought it helped the abrupt on-off throttle behavior much, if at all. Got to try the G2 in stop and go traffic and whilst lane splitting tonight. Always on and off the throttle when lane splitting. I'm coming away very impressed with this simple solution. They should be fitted as OEM IMNSHO.

Tried to place an order, but their system would not accept it. Guess when they are out of current stock they do not take orders. Perhaps late comers to this opportunity can get another chance when they make more?

Those who have to change / replace a grip heater: is it possible to remove the old one, or is replacement necessary? Can you order just the throttle side heater?

My throttle tamer is on the way, but it'll probably be dead of winter before I get around to replacing it.

Same happened to me and Sam took care of me over the phone. Call them tomorrow and tell him what happened. He was very friendly and was very helpful. He took all of my info and CC and told me it wouldn't be charged until they shipped. Also...no shipping fees if sent USPS priority mail. A good deal.

I'll bet he'll honor the group buy.

Bob, if you have the Symtec heaters, you can buy the individual components on their site. That's exactly what I did.

I gave Sam a call today and he is still giving me the discounted price. What a guy! He indicated it would be a couple weeks before shipping.

Thanks again, Forest.

Talked to Sam and he told me the same thing. He admitted he tried to be an IT type guy and screwed up the web site. He said to send him an e-mail and he will notify each of us when he gets some more made up and give us a discount and free shipping.

Installed mine yesterday and yes it helps with throttle control. Notes: mine did not come with delrin inserts. I guess I read the order form wrong and believed you had 2 choices--1 all billitt & 2 all delrin. Also the tube must be shorter than stock ( did not think to measure it befor instillation) as now my Throttlemeister is inop. It apears I will have to cut material off the grip so the friction collar will seat down on the tube.

Did yours look like this, on their site I only see that as an option:

Nope mine does not look like that.

Well, I'm not sure how much that matters... Maybe they'll do a switch out for you but if you look at the OEM cheapo plastic tube... it's pretty flimsy and I've never heard of anyone wearing one out so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Did the instructions say anything about lubing the bar a little before installation?

I did put the grip back in the same location as well as the control casing; I'll see if I can adjust the casing in farther to make it work that way. I did not have any problem moving the grip because of the cross hatching.

Yes, I do understand what delrin does. To me, It looks like that is only standard option on the ST1300 model as the drop down only shows that model.
