G2 Tamer Thottle Tube

Installed mine yesterday.

Install was not bad at all - thanks to the pictures and directions many have posted. Getting the grip back on the new tube was the toughest part - heated Honda grips don't give much and the knurled surface of the G2 tube holds really well!

Throttle response is much improved, smoother and easier to control at low speed.

Well worth the cost and time for me.

.

Did you use isopropyl alcohol to slip the heated grips on? I usually use soapy water to change grips, but that knurled knob has me concerned. Don't want to booger up the heated grips.

I used some WD-40 and had to tap the grip on with a small board and a dead blow hammer - as gently as I could. It's a very snug fit. I was afraid to use any glue as I might never get the grip back off.

Yes it is, sorry I didn't measure it but if I had to guess, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter. If someone has one they haven't installed yet we can compare. The OEM tube is 5 3/8 inches long.

. . . didn't read through the whole thread, just browsing quickly looking for install pics. The G2 I received, end-to-end is . . . 5 3/8ths inches long.

Now, since I don't have compressed air, I'm trying to figure out how to get the OEM grips off.
! Just saw Pete McCrary's post on getting the OEM grips off with WD40. Will try it tomorrow!

So the new version can be considered an identical replacement as far as the tube length is considered, thanks guys.
