add one trailer to the STable

Kewl design, Dave!

I'll be a bit nit-picky..... I would have the swingarm on the left. Here's why: When you park your rig and go to check the tires, it will be easier to get to the lug nuts and valve on the trailer tire if it is pointing to the right. Not that big a deal if you use the center stand

I really like the stand; I've been going to add one to mine but have not gotten around to it yet. I was not planning on putting wheels on it and I can see where that would be an issue!

Not nit pickey at all. Since they came in a pair one of us has the arm on the Right (mine) and the other is on the left.

Dave how many miles you got on that trailer and what kinds of loads did you haul ?

Just built it this year, but have about 3800 miles on it so far. I would guess the most I have had in it was about 150#'s.

I am in search of the right parts to start my trailer build. Any comments would be appreciated!!

Wiring Harness Recommendations?

Hitch: From Uni-Go

What other parts do I need?

Thanks,

JD

JD, I'm gonna leave this to the actual builders, but I know Khris sourced a bunch of stuff from Northern Tool. The 4-hole hub, with an open stock wheel 'n tar from Walmarts seems to work okay for me.

Double check all yur measurements! :D

My hub/bearings/axle/wheel-tire all came from Tractor Supply. I think 4 lug is more than enough for a one-wheeler. They also have some U-joints there, for PTO shafts, that could be utilized.

Lots of LED lighting available on Ebay; I used R and P Carriages for mine. I used a flat 5 connector with all LED lighting so no additional circuitry was necessary. (running, brake, L turn, R turn, ground)

Torsion axle looks interesting and simpler to fab, but the bike shock gives a bit of adjustment with preload. Of course, no suspension seems to work OK too.

George,

I am there with you! I ride my ST, I'll let others do the rest!! Installing farkles is about as far as I go.

A friend here has a powder coating business, I am waiting for a call back to see if one of his welders wants to do the fabrication. The bad part is I have to order all of the parts from the states, if I miss a part that could add days or weeks to the build time. As an example: JFK was just closed for a few days, our mail is routed through JFK so no mail for us. You can't just run out and get a missing part (there I days I love this place and days I don't :))

My next hurdle is going to be getting it registered and licensed. I can always put military plates on it but I don't appreciate the added attention from those. Sometimes we get hassled (in Switzerland and Austria mostly) when traveling with military plates.

Thanks!! I will take a look at the Tractor Supply website. R&P has some cool stuff.

JD, if you go with the torsion you have llisted you could use either of these hubs. It just depends on if you go 4 or 5 lug wheel.

For a tire on mine I used a run of the mill 4.8 x 8 on a 4 lug wheel. So far with about 5000 miles on my 1 wheel no issues. I would guess I should get about 10,000 out of the tire. At about $35 each US that is cheep enough to just replace the full wheel and tire every couple of years.

You will also need a light converter to go from a 5 wire system (bike) to a 4 wire system (trailer) If you use combo brake/turn/running lights on the trailer.

For a wiring harness I used something like this, http://www.tractorsupply.com/traile...nsion-4-wire-flat-replacement-harness-0143206

If you can not find one long enough just extend the wires as needed.

For a converter I picked mine up at a local trailer place, but it is something like this http://www.amazon.com/Reese-Towpower-74209-Trailer-Converter/dp/B0008G1NNY

Also don't forget something for a plate light. I mounted my lc plate to the back of my cargo box and used something like this for a light. http://www.tractorsupply.com/traile...rior-utility-lamp-with-chrome-housing-0165193

Also if you are required to have side marker lights or reflectors don't forget those too. Or get them local.

Well, I am in the beginning stages of building my uni-trailer to add to my Stable. I have cut add the steel and laid it out. Put the Yoke and cross together, cutting the axle this afternoon and so the welder can extend it. Have the pieces for the fender and ready to cut that. Once the axle is finished, it will be time to weld everything together.
Will keep you posted and add some more pics as I go along.
