Where did you ride today?

Got sneaky getting out today between the rain drops (tricky business doing that) to participate with my grand daughter's preschool picnic. Rode 18 miles. Expecting a package today that needs a signature so just rode there and back.

Earlier today I removed the old visor from my helmet that has the Pin-Lock insert on it. When I bought this white helmet I decided to keep using the visor from my older helmet since it was still clear and in good shape. So I had put the new visor from the new helmet in a soft pouch on the shelf. I decided I didn't need the Pin-Lock insert since it doesn't help my eye glasses anyway and I use other means to keep those clear in cold weather riding. I was amazed at how cloudy my old visor had become and how totally transparent the new visor was! It still had the plastic overlay that they ship with on it and I peeled that off when I put it on the helmet. It was like there was no visor there but the wind was being blocked. Was very nice.

Rode to Chick-fil-a for dinner tonight. Very short ride at 4.1 miles. When I pulled into the parking lot and was getting of my bike a lady who followed me in and was headed to the drive through stopped and yelled at me. At first I only heard someone talking loud at me but after I got my helmet off I heard her say that she loved my jacket... she could see me a half mile away! Not very often I get comments about how visible I am to others in monster trucks/SUVs so this was good to hear. It's good to be seen. I wear a TM Pivot Hi-Vis jacket and a white helmet.

Had a nice 500km run yesterday on a brisk but sunny autumn day; would have used the heated grips but only one was working; small electrical issue with a plug that is now fixed.

The route was from my Auckland home, through Hunua and on to Mercer, then I joined SH22 for a great 80-odd km of open road riding to nearly Raglan, then inland to Pirongia and on through very twisty roads to Waitomo Caves, then out to Te Anga past the Marokopa Falls. Then I headed home via the Kawhia Rd (which has the best twists and turns and was mostly dry) before joining the motorway at Rangariri for the trip back to Auckland. Mostly great conditions but the chilly overnight temps and low sun angle made for many shaded damp corners, so I had to keep my enthusiasm in check (mostly).

My old 1300 is running very nicely but its time for a new front tyre.

Finally got out for a ride today. Since the last FerrySTOC it's either been raining or way too much wind for anything more than short errand trips. Memorial Day was even windy. Mowed the lawn on Monday but had to pick up a large bundle of broken branches from the tree in the front yard before that and then went back and picked up another large bundle due to the winds blowing them out of the tree. Finally gave up on picking up sticks and just mowed over what was left.
Today was a lot less wind but still 10-15 mph with gusts. Rode about 58 miles and stopped at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery along the way. All the flags were still out.

Just a little errand today. Turned 4.6 miles into 13.3 miles to run to Walmart and pickup a bag of Miracle Grow potting mix and a few other things.
First time I actually used the luggage rack since I installed it. The 2 cu ft bag of potting mix extended just an inch or two beyond the end of it. Used the smaller ROK straps to hold it.

Made a 3 hour ride in the Laurentian, to collect the letter "E" for the Quebec A to Z game.
A lot of trees were still on the ground from the strong winds we got, 10 days ago. Many houses were without power for a couple days. At my cousin house in St-Sauveur, lots of electric poles went down, wires broken into pieces, etc. Almost was as strong as a tornado.

A Small village, called "Entrelacs" (Interlaken, Between lakes).

An old covered bridge. We have a couple of them in Quebec. Probably a dozen or a bit more.

And that place, a century ago, used to be famous for the couple sawmills, that were using the stream of water running from one lake to the other, hence the name of the place.
Hum.... we don't see much of it. That's what happend when you take a picture with your sunglasses.

An old wooden church with the presbitary beside. Notice the size of the house for the many priest that used to live here. And this is really a small village. Here in Quebec, contrarly to the US, where you could have 8-10 churches in a small village, we have only one church, most of the time. Because, everyone use to be catholic around here. And Quebec is known for too much power the church had over here. But that's another story.
Let's keep it cool. ; -)

It was really a nice day to ride. The 370 road from Ste-Adele and up was twisty and bumpy. Very enjoyable ride.
