Where did you ride today?

Always thought Honda should have done an ST bike with that engine/platform.

That's pretty much what the VFR1200F was. Same 1237cc engine but 170hp. I believe Honda intended it to replace the ST, but I think it turned out to be a bit too much Sport and not enough Touring. Neither the F or the X did well in the US.

Uncle Phil rented one of these when he came over to the UK for a BritSTOC meet some years back- I don't think he cared for it much.

Nowhere!!! Says STacy while stamping her foot. "That green tarted hussy (AKA '17 Kawi Versys 300 in green) got to go to the USFS Middle Fork Campground outside of North Bend." Worse, that 'other woman' didn't even take pictures!

Just a quick local spin to test my nice new shiny Hagon shock that I put on yesterday. Now it's not like riding a pogo stick and she goes where she's pointed! Just a little fine tuning to do after my trip to France for a couple of weeks this Wednesday.

Just a little ride to REI and then Lowe's to get a MSR fuel bottle and also a calibrated measuring bucket so I can test how much gas my AK fuel tank actually holds. There seems to be a bit of controversy on that so I'll be siphoning my tank to drain it so as not to tax the fuel pump and then carefully refilling it with this bucket.

Took me 34 miles to get to REI, another 1.6 miles to Lowe's, then 1.4 miles to home. A total 37 miles all the way from when I left home until I returned home. OK, I took the long way to get there... again. Stopped for a few pics along the way. Weather is getting better. Sunny and near 50F.

Yesterday actually.... 1st good day in a long while, we went for a run off island and around the Loch Lomond and Trossachs / Argyll park areas.Headed out for the 1040 ferry at the North end of the island (Rhubodach).
01 Kames Bay where I live.jpg
While waiting for the ferry found out that due to Covid 19 problems with crew, the last ferry back would be at 1600.
Anyway, a nice run through the Glen at Glendaruel and along the coast of the Sound of Pladda through Strachur, joining the A83 near Cairndow and heading for Inverary.
A lot of bikes out today, and some doing some insane speeds along the staight from "The Rest and be Thankful Pass" through Glen Kinglass.
I know I'm rusty after the winter, so they probably are. Possible Darwin awards in motion.
02 En-route to Inverary.jpg
Apart from the idiots, it was a nice run to Inverary.

Coffee and rolls at Inverary, which was absolutely rammed with bikes and cars, it felt like the whole population of the West Coast had decided to enjoy the first decent weather in a while :)

From Inverary over the hill towards Loch Awe, but turned right and headed for the "Green welly Cafe" at Clifton.
It too was rammed, so after a brief stop, we bucked the trend and headed South towards Loch Lomond.
Considering the number of bikes ridden by crazy riders, there was only one accident that we encountered, a modern SUV upside down on a long straight stretch of very good road.
Police, ambulance and fire / rescue were on hand and controlling the traffic with quite a few "civilian" cars stopped to render assistance.
We turned left at Tarbet and headed along the side of Loch Lomond until we came to the A817 "Military Road" turnoff adjacent to the Loch Lomond Golf Club.
This is a road over the Hill towards the Coulport Naval Base and there is probably a lot of military "stuff" buried under the moors etc.
Come down the other side and joined the A814 along the side of Loch Long.
A very twist, narrow road with some abysmal sections with pot holes that felt they headed for China.
Stopped at Arrochar for some hot chocolate and cake.
03 Arrochar - coffee break.jpg

Then on from there, up and over the "Rest and be Thankful", along Glen Kinglass, and back onto the A815 to Strachur and right onto the A886 which takes us over the moor, along Glendaruel and onto Colintraive for the ferry.
This bit is always a fast blast as the road is quiet, we know it well, and we've all settled in and are comfortable on the bikes.
Got to the ferry for the 1530 sailing.

A final chat with the guys while crossing over to the island, a "fast but not crazy" run along the coast road in convoy and then we split off to our various homes.
05 Home - Pan needs washed, Wing needs a battery.jpg

Not a big mileage today, but an enjoyable day, all of us getting used to the bikes again and me absolutely knackered once I got home (just recovering from Covid).
Washed the Pan this morning and now awaiting a new battery for the Wing to be delivered.

Ride safe folks and take care.
Regards
Don

Rode around the Santa Monica Mountain canyons and PCH after finally finished applying (3 coats) a new liquid rubber roof to the travel trailer. 90% of the work was in the prep !
Many of the roads were winding, narrow, and steep 2nd gear roads. 66 degrees. Lots of bikes out on the PCH.

Was raining all day yesterday and also this morning here too. But not so good for riding since there was snow mixed in with it and temps close to freezing.
All this is headed your way @sirbike !

Went riding today. Needed to get some groceries so added a few miles onto the 4 mile round trip to the store. Ended up with 49 miles.
I actually did stop and take a really nice picture but my camera messed up the file for some reason and the SD card was blank. I know I saw the file there right after taking the pic but it was gone when I got home. Oh, well. Maybe later.

My helmet has an integral sun visor so I don't need to wear sun glasses when it's sunny out. But the next helmet I'm thinking about getting doesn't have the sun visor so this ride I decided to use my sun glasses instead of the visor just to see how they work out. Worked well, but it will be a few years before I need a new helmet and don't need to be spending the $$ now for an extra one. I like to keep options in mind just in case something happens before I think I'll need it.

Night before last, I pitched my tent at Manatee Springs State Park In Chieftown FL.

Several Manatee with calf’s in the spring which was pretty cool to watch. This morning, got up to make coffee only to find some critter raided my kitchen canvas bag that has my Jetboil and coffee (no food) and drug it about 30 yards away. Went through all the things in the kit and scattered them in the bushes….. So no coffee. Probly a Raccoon.

Had to resort to a Huddle House…..down the road

Was a really nice mostly cloudy day today with temps in the low 50sF. So I went for a ride after several days of attending to family stuff including daycare for my youngest grand daughter.
As I was riding down a popular mc road in the area I ended up under a larger darker cloud bank and ended up going through a few sprinkles. No matter, the wind liners that still have in my riding gear are waterproof as well but there really wasn't enough to really call it a rain, let alone enough to get through the outer layer of my riding gear anyway.

Rode just over 104 miles in a loop, a little farther than I had to date during this year. I started this ride with about 50 miles on the current tank of gas so when I was about 15-20 miles from home and the last red bar was flashing (wasn't paying really close attention). No worries about that, I usually get around 35+ miles when that happens and then the red "E" flashes for another 15 miles before empty. I have just over 153 miles on this tank so I am thinking there is about 30 miles at least before I have to think of pushing it. The gas station is just 1.4 miles down the road and will be my first stop on the next ride out. I didn't fill up on the way back since there were lines of at 5-6 cars/SUV/Trucks waiting beside those already at the pumps so I decide I could stop later. The station I usually hold out for has prices that are usually 30-40 cents lower per gallon than anywhere else nearby.

I want to try to get a few rides per week this month of at least 80 miles or more to bring the odometer up closer to the next oil change interval at 3000 miles. The initial oil change intervals are closer. After the 6000 oil change interval all oil/filter changes are officially scheduled for every 6000 miles.

Stopped to smell the roses along the way... well, at least to take a few pictures for other tag games.

Cut down the over grown yews across the front of the house yesterday morning and spent the rest of the day cutting up the branches into smaller bits to put in the recycle bags. We can pack a lot in those bags when it's cut up. Did more cutting this morning. My wife with the loppers for the skinny branches and me with the electric chain saw for the thick branches. When I say over grown I mean 3 yews spanning 15 ft like a continuous hedge that is almost 6 ft tall and very dense. Some of the branches at the base were 5 inches diameter and one or two up to 8 inches diameter. So the chain saw was needed for those. It was getting warm, finally. Today was supposed to get up to just over 70F but actually got up to 80F. So this afternoon I put down the garden tools and went out for a ride.

Rode 104 miles today on a figure 8 loop route on several county roads I had not been on for a little while and a few that were entirely new to me. Mostly all alone on these roads. I did see several groups of motorcycles out today. A few of them of at least a dozen of what looked like Harleys but definitely all V-Twin cruisers. Lots of leather vests and a few leather chaps, all with patches everywhere. But they gave me the biker wave anyway. I didn't look to see if any rider jerked their hand back when they realized I was riding a scooter. I'm sure a few did. No pics of the groups since they were all going the other way as I was riding.

great pics!

Had to go to an appointment today. About 5.6 miles to get there, but someone at the highway department decided this morning was a good time to do some repair on a pedestrian bridge that goes over the on-ramp to the short run on Interstate that I was intending to take so the detour took about a half mile farther. After my appointment I took the long way home. Wasn't feeling like going a really long way so just added a bunch of miles. Ended up with a total of 31 miles including my appointment.
Can you tell where I needed to go?
100_4508.JPG
Then off on the shortest route to get out of town and away from traffic.
100_4509.JPG
This was just a mile west of one of the several big Microsoft data centers in the area.
