Where did you ride today?

This is the street looking out the front door tonight. I took a minute to shovel a divit in the snow along the curved sidewalk so I can find it with the snow blower later.

Just a little ride to grab a few tags and also some groceries. Temps stayed around 29F to 30F for the entire 21.7 miles. Thought this was a good place to stop along the way considering the season.
;)

I took the bikes out to do the floors and figured I'd take El Bandito (my 01 Rebel) for a spin. It's been awhile since I rode it and it started off feeling like a bicycle! I dropped off some mail that had been mistakenly delivered to my house and then did my version of "around the block".

Still clear roads today. The sun was out. Temps were right at 23F. So I went for a ride. Rode down to the Maffitt Lake reservoir and on a few country roads being certain that they were clear and dry as I went. Rode 39.7 miles this time.

The lake was actually frozen over, but really thin ice over most of it. Just off the far shore to the left of my bike you can just make out 2 people walking on the ice to where they had ice fishing set up. They were dragging something, maybe a sled with supplies.

Getting out while I can.
Just an easy ride on country roads and a little bit in town as well. Rode 44.4 miles today. Temp started out at 44F and was up to 47F when I returned home. Lots of melting run-off happening in some places. Not so much on the county highways but in town there was. Found a few city side streets where the plows forgot to go at the last snowfall but even those streets were mostly cleared, but obvious nothing was sprayed or sprinkled to melt anything there. Lots of water on those streets. Did have to weave around some of the remaining ice/snow packs. I normally would have avoided those streets but was on a mission to find some places there.

Expecting 6" of the white stuff on Friday and lots of ice from the refreeze on Thursday so went out again today while the roads were still clear.
Temps ranged up to 52F today... a heat wave! Rode a few miles for errands first. All together I rode 66 miles today. Picked a road I had not been on since last summer so grabbed a few pics along the way. Usually I prefer to just keep riding and don't want to stop for pictures. Usually the really good road pictures are just when I get to a section where if I were to stop it would ruin the enjoyment of the run through that section. I could run through and turn around and go back for a picture but I prefer to just keep on going. Anyway, here are a few from today. One shows the slight hills and sweeping curves that are common on that section of road. Another is a photo at the tree farm where we have bought Christmas trees from in the past. And of course where I had my errand at the very end of the ride. 60 miles to get to the store 3 miles from home!

Yeah, we noticed. :D

I appreciate the pics, and I'm sure the rest of us do too.

I bought back in 2016? a Sena 10C. Later, upgraded to the Sena 10C Evo (I hated it), then went to the Sena 10C Pro. It will give you the ability to take pics on the fly in places where you can't pull over safely or you simply don't want to break the flow of the ride.

I wanted to get out over the week of Christmas to get a place in the Top 10 Finalists for Coldest Ride of the Year, but it wasn't possible. We got dumped with snow and the temps dropped into the teens. 12F one night. The only vehicle moving in my driveway for weeks, was my Subaru Outback.

Now the temps have risen and heavy rains have come. Rivers are at flood stage till tomorrow. I'm getting out, but not more than local commuting.

Ride?! It was -26C yesterday with a windchill of -36! Ride hell, parked myself in the workshop and had a beer.

You do realize you guys in Southern Cal are rubbing salt in the wound don't you?! We have another 3-4 months of waiting. :well1:

:p

Awe come-on. Put on another layer or two and turn on some heated something. But it has been a few years since I went for a ride at -26.5C (-15.7F). But I did do that for the coldest ride contest here.
Was zeroF (-17.8C) just a few weeks ago when I went for a ride. But of course if the roads are not clear don't do it. Ice/snow packed onto the pavement is no fun to be taking a leisurely ride in... Then again with the right bike it might be a lot of fun.

First ride in 10 days since I caught the stupid bug! Too bad it was back to work since I swabbed negative. Pretty pleasant in the mid 50s though so I took the scenic route home. I hope to get some major services knocked out early this weekend and get the crew together for a real ride.

Hi All!

Took off this morning around 10AM, from Elk Grove, Kaliforniastan, heading home on I-80.
As I approached Reno NV, I decided to change my route. I headed south, on USA Parkway and followed it until I could get to US95, to Tonopah, NV.
This is the same route that we took two weeks ago and hit the horse at 11PM on Hwy US93. I'm hoping to avoid the horses this time, since I'll be riding during the day, I've got an OVER PRICED, hotel room for the night.
Total miles for the day is about 415, or so.
Tomorrow should only be 285 miles.

Had to be a cold ride this time of year.
