Where did you ride today?

Been very nice being able to ride in this weather considering it is December and only a few days before Christmas!
Took off to explore a few local country roads I haven't been on yet. Some were newly paved. I try to avoid gravel roads so when the city or county finally gets around to paving some of those I then have a new road to explore. :)

Rode 48 miles today. Set the maximum number of waypoints in the Noodoe route even though it wasn't very far to ride. That was to force the routing to stay on the roads I wanted to investigate. Temps were steady around 48F. Stopped by the Iowa Veterans Cemetery entrance for a photo op and found a "friendship rock" laying on one of the boulders. The idea is to take that rock and then leave it somewhere else for someone to find. I decided considering the location and message on the rock I'd leave it there for someone else and just take a picture of it. My Grandkids have painted friendship rocks and left them around places like walking trails, the park, the lake at the shopping mall, etc.

This friendship rock was laying on the boulder on the right of the picture above.

Did a 75 mile loop today......family coming for Christmas tomorrow......think they'll notice if I sneak out and go riding??

Still a good day for a ride this Christmas Eve Day. Was 55F all the way around the 34.5 miles. Stopped to fill the tank near the end of this ride. 2.632 gal for 125.1 miles. The red block on the fuel gauge just started to flash when I pulled into the station. Just a little jaunt on some country roads... again. That's where I prefer to ride since I'm close enough to get to those without going through a lot of city traffic. Those are north west or south west. Going anything east takes me into city traffic. My destination today was Culver's for some gift cards to be given tomorrow... normally a 1.5 mile round trip from my home. Still can't get this AK to take the shortest route!

Since it's been ugly weather since I got Vanna, I haven't been able to ride much. Today's high was 65 so I was definitely going to get some riding time even with it being Christmas Eve. I rode about an hour down all my common detours around the house, and now I'm about to eat some lobster and fixins at my ol lady's house. God is good!

Wanted to ride this weekend but too busy with family. Was thinking of a ride today but temps started out below freezing with freezing rain coming down. Likely now most places are just wet with the continuing rain coming down even though temps are JUST over freezing, but like I said... MOST places. Some frozen spots on the roads still. And with freezing rain that makes any frozen patch as slick as... well ... you know...

Snow expected to start in just a few hours. So decided to get one more ride in before that and before the end of the year. There might be one other chance on Friday depending if it does snow and how much or if there ends up being ice on roads. Big snow storm expected this weekend so no riding on New Years Day.

Only rode 21 miles this time to pick up a tag on another forum. Temps stayed right around 15-16F all the way around. Not the coldest this year, nor the last 2 months, but won't be colder the rest of this year (only 2 more days!).

I rode to the local Post Office to get some mail and test the heated grips I installed yesterday on my '97.

Wish I would have installed them years ago! What a difference riding with warm hands.

Well after our little slice of the Pacific Northwest Snowpocolypse finally eased up, today afforded me a chance to get in one final ride before the end if the year.

Turned out to be a 'four-season' ride, or as close as December in Oregon is likely to deliver.

Headed west through Philomath to Kings Valley Hwy. As I climbed the ridge that delivered me there, the autumn-like conditions in town began to spit snow which fortunately subsided as I headed north along one of my zen escapes as the curves followed the valley floor of Kings Valley.

After a few miles I turned east and so did the weather. The clouds parted, the sun warmed me and the road, flirting with 40°F on the dash and delivering the most summer-like conditions in at least a week!

Took some backroads into Albany to run an errand before returning to Corvallis where it began a spring-like rain and proving the worth of my new retina burning HiViz Aerostich suit. Total distance about 61 miles.

That also capped off my 2021 miles at 5,647. Much too few for my liking. Gotta work on this for 2022!

I managed to take the 2010 :bl13: around the block yesterday, for my last ride of the season...

BTW, it was all of 37F when I took it out.

Also, the mileage I have put on that bike is now sitting at 99,986! Next year, I'll get it over that 100,000 mile mark! :thumb:

Last ride was reported a few posts above. An inch of snow fell yesterday taking most of the day to do so with temps topping out at 30F. Freezing fog and now freezing drizzle all day today with temps sitting right around the same as yesterday and pavement treatments starting to wash off from the excess moisture so ice patches are developing. Expecting another 6 inches of snow over the entire time tomorrow from sun up to sun down and maybe later with temps topping out around 7F and dropping.

SOOOO no riding any more this year and no riding for a few days into the new year. :(

@STRider , how to you like that RAM Quick-Grip holder? Durable?

Love it @rjs987 IMO absolutely bulletproof and far more confidence inspiring and easy to use than the X-Grip which it replaced. My Samsung Galaxy S7 and later S10 both required an unwelcome level of fidgeting to position the phone between the bumpers on the arms of the X-Grip so they didn't press the buttons while still holding them 'secure'. With the Quick-Grip the phone is virtually immobile short of a crash.. I still don't understand why anyone would use the X-Grip with the Quick-Grip in their product line. Easy one-hand load/unload... perfect every time

There are two sizes. Make sure you get the one that will work with your phone. The S7 fit the original and the S10 requires the XL.

Annual Penguin Ride among friends. It was very warm here today as it is across much of the Southeastern US. 64F at dawn and about 80F when I got home at noon.
