Where did you ride today?

Headed up Coal Creek Canyon today to Nederland, picked up Peak-To-Peak Highway to Estes Park, did a quick run up Trail Ridge Road to the Alpine Visitors Center and then back down to Estes Park. Then took Devils Gulch Road to Glen Haven and continued on to Rt 34 which took me down Poudre Canyon to Loveland. The ST1100 ran well. Took a few pictures:

I only saw one video – rollin' down the slab. (It may be my old browser on this box). It looked like your cam started focusing on the water droplets at the end.

I only posted one video... and one photo. Them's the "these" in my comment.
Those aren't water droplets but bug juice drops that started reflecting the sunlight more near the end.

Nice mid winter ride to Langs Beach and the South Head of the Kaipara Harbour, 450km all up. Beaut weather, 12-16C, mostly dry but for winter-shaded patches. The 1300 was going like a freight train! Ate another back tyre, this BT023 only lasted 4500km but it was fun. I think I'd better get a GT-spec next time.

Yes I like left handers...

At Langs Beach looking out to the Hen and Chicken Islands.

In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, I added some insulation to the underside of the tank, ready for next summer.

No problem on the no Sena. I still won't talk to you when we ride (soon). I don't have one either!

Rode Up through Michigan ( Sault Ste Marie) and holed up in a hotel waiting to cross the Canadian boarder tomorrow for the northerly (Canadian side) circle tour of Lake Superior. I didn't take any pics because it started pouring rain as I rode the last 50 miles of the UP getting to the boarder. As I was heading north on I-75 saw 2 ST 1300 riding south.

Over the past 3 days, I have traveled from Luxembourg to Hungary, in search of cooler weather - there is a record-setting heat wave taking place in Europe at the moment.

This sign is by the side of the road just south of Vienna - signs like this are common on the Austrian motorways, intended to warn the drivers about the risk of ice forming on the pavement in the wintertime.

It's a LED sign, so, I could not get a photo of every element in the sign lit up at the same time, even though I took about 10 photos. The air temp was +40°C, and the road temperature was +48°C.

When I rode through Germany yesterday, the variable speed limit signs on the sections of the autobahn that had new pavement (asphalt laid in 2019) were all set to 100 km/h (63 MPH), instead of the usual unlimited speed limit - this because the roads department was worried that the asphalt would soften and deform in the very high temperatures if drivers were zooming down the highway at 150 MPH.

It's supposed to get a bit cooler tomorrow.

You know, private messages work great for this kind of information.
But I'll try to remember to add this to my address book.

Just down to Hartlepool to have my tyres changed on the BeaST. About 70miles each way, all English A roads and the Tyne tunnel, which is free for motorcycles. Two new BT31's affixed and scrubbed, although after 70 miles it doesn't look like they've rolled at all yet. Long may it last. The ones I took off had done about 7000 miles and maybe had another 500 legal miles left in them. This is probably a 30% improvement over 023's.

You better cut off those nubs before you lose it in a sweeper.

How come Highway 191 is usually on fire every summer! <cough, cough>

Sorry, no pictures. We've been gone for a week to the Bay Area and our daughter's wedding. Came back on Tuesday and I had to get on the bike Wednesday for therapy reasons. Suffering from withdrawal is never pretty or fun. So I made a couple local stops for shopping. One of those was to Costco.

I came out and a young mother and her son were looking at the bike. I heard her say to not touch it. He was in awe of it. I offered to let him sit on it, and his mother said it was okay. So I pointed out how he could climb up, and kept my hands out of sight, but a couple inches from him in case he slipped. He must've been about 8 yrs old, and hadn't hit his growth spurt.

The little guy was in seventh heaven. If he stretched, he could reach the handlebars...barely. Mom got pictures of the occasion. Then Dad and older sister came out. She was excited too. So up she goes. I'm guessing she might've been 11??? Mom and Dad took pictures of the two of them, and then each individually.

They had so much fun, and I did too. Maybe there's a couple future motorcyclists in that family???

Get 'em hooked, early and often, I say! I enjoy this opportunity every chance I get it. Making sure to explain there are rules but emphasizing the fun. I have a 6 year old adopted nephew that lives for a scoot around the block and is chomping at the bit to get a pair of boots "just like uncle Kirk's". It can really make your day.
