Where did you ride today?

Rode to an ADV RTE yesterday....an assortment of bikes. V-Strom, ST, FJR, HD and an interesting VW-based trike.

First I've had the ST out for any length in a long time. Met here.....

Right around 3 corners from here, something I wanted to see for a long time.

Had a great lunch, then went to find the exact start.
Bakerton Reservoir, near Carrolltown PA.

Amazing how such a small stream grows and grows as it finds it's way to the Chesapeake Bay......and has caused so much destruction on the way over the years.

~250 miles, cool to start.....but too hot till I got home. But.....a good day overall.

I rode 120 out to deliver a dog crate to my wife working out of town. She’s transporting a rescue back.
The bike felt so free and easy on the way home.

"Dog" crate?
Looks like my wife's cat carrier.
(In my Crocodile Dundee voice:)
Now, THIS is a dog crate!

Now, having said that -- we rode to work today. And maybe some other places close to home. But we're not riding anywhere else until I address this... from tread to cords, literally overnight.
Streets too hot for a Dunlop RoadSmart II? I'll check the mileage later tonight, I think it was just put on start of the year? Could be wrong... but it had tread and rubber all over, yesterday.

I rode to the end of the road today. To Ocheesee Lading on the Apalachicola river. It was all calm there today. A good place for someone passing through to spend the night if you’re ever passing by. It’s allowed but nothing around for ten miles except floating fish shacks.

Rode to my son's house this morning 22 miles away. My grandson is home recovering from another knee surgery (he has needed several surgeries on his leg due to a growth deficiency).
Needed to stop on the way home for gas since it was on reserve and I'll be riding there again tomorrow. Ended up with almost 49 miles total today.

I rode between the rain drops... well, actually between the rain storms... But I stayed dry in any case... relatively dry. Humidity was high for here at around 93% when I rode up there with actual temps around 82F. I did a repair to their garage door trim that was not fitting right and even though it was before 10 am I was dripping wet before I finished. I should have worn a swim suit.

Coming home the actual temps were not as high as expected due to the storms at around 87-89F but the humidity was still up there. Was OK as long as I kept moving.

Put in just 2.97 gallons of gas and calculated that tank to give me just over 58 mpg. 174 miles on that tank.

I finally installed the trailer wiring harness to go with the Denray hitch I had put on the '01 a couple of years ago. I hitched up and went for a test ride up to the Blue Ridge Pkwy.

I rode west up to Staunton and down to Lexintgon for a lunch stop, and home. The trailer pulled easily and behaved itself flawlessly on the interstate, the BRP, and twisty roads.

I took the quick and easy way for now and used the plug-in kind of Scotchlock-type connectors. I can easily unplug the harness and plug the trunk light wires in directly if needed.

I used a harness with a built-in 5-wire to 4-wire adapter, made the connections to the bike wires, packed it up nice and clean, and ran the socket behind the right-side support.

Did it again today...
Rode up to my son's house to watch over 2 big dogs and my Grandson. He's on a series of meds to be given on a schedule during the day so that's what I was there for.
Temps going up were just over 80F and humidity has been high for a few days. But most of my jacket vents stayed closed and I was comfortable.
Riding home after 5:30 was a bit warmer. Temps were 98F and heat index at 114F most of the ride home. Dew point was around 75%. In the middle of the ride home for maybe 5 miles temps dropped about 8 deg per the temp reading on the dash, but it was 98F at the beginning and at the end of the ride every where else. All vents were open on the ride home.
Total miles today ended up being only about 46 miles.

Just came back from a roughly 100 mile ride to Holland festival just north of us. Check out some bikes at a multi line dealership on the way home. I guess no one wanted to talk to us about bikes. Bet if I started looking at ATV’s they would have come running. IMG_0656.jpeg
Did get my Oliebollen.

Oly what? Good looking donut hole you got there though....

Let me guess, you got the donut hole at........Cedar Grove Holland Fest 2023.

Yes I did. How did you know?

Kathy and I got up about 5am, jumped on the ST, went for a 200 mile ride, BEFORE it got hot. Today's high is supposed to be around 104°F, tomorrow and Tuesday, 106° F here, I know the whole south is in a heat wave, but DAMN. Early, out in the country, we saw 68°F at one low point by a creek! it felt so good
