I get my kicks above the treeline sunshine... There is something special riding in a cloud, everything goes silent, engine noised become subdued and if you stop and dismount there is an otherworldly feel, especially when the clouds swirl and engulf and I saw the Brocken spectre.

Thanks for posting, great pictures and memories.
Can definitely recommend this place not far from there, it was cheap, clean, quiet and with great food cooked by the owner. Probably the nicest Hotel we've ever stopped at, the folk were so friendly. They let us put the bike in the barn too.

Did use up the can of trim paint on the black undercowlings. Left side was sun bleached, hard to see, but made it look like a 20 year old bike.

What did I do with my ST today? Nothing! It sat parked on the side stand in the garage. There's nothing wrong the ST, it's just that I preferred to take my new ride for a spin.

As I sat on the side of the bed this AM getting ready for a ride, I thought ST or eBike, eBike or ST, and guess what, I chose eBike. I must've looked splendid heading down the street in my fluro yellow covering three layers of thermals to ward off the chilly 5C. And even after that and a three hour, 60km ride, I thought I'll do this tomorrow.

I've been getting three or four rides a week on the eBike this year, and on the normal push bike last year. I reckon I've probably done more km on bicycles in the past 12 months than on the ST.

I hope it's not too long before I take the ST out for a spin.

Picked up a nail in back tire on a short ride up to the cove, road it 15 klms to gas station air pump them 20klms home. Peeled it off and the interior showed the sidewalls were stressed and the carcass is toast. Another $300 to the bike gods.......and hopefully replaced before my planned one week trip on the 5th. Ugh. Moral of the story, don't ride on a flattish tire as you will wreck the thing. Moral #2, don't leave home without pump and patch kit even for a short local ride. My bad....

Latest stage in my farkling journey completed yesterday with the addition of a Bike-Quip riser. Followed up by a 175 mile trip round the block just to check I put everything back together correctly. I never skimp on these kinds of safety checks, especially when the sun is shining

Finally!! Finally!! Finally got the Old girl back together.

new fork seals, all new brakes, new SMC new(used) left exhaust header, rear end services with new bearings, grease, and fluid, new tires, new thermostat, new valve cover gaskets.



it was a long road but it’s back togetheri also added new driving lights and heated grips all wired to a fuse block under the seat.

Heatmaker, thank you for your motivation. I don’t have near as much to do as you did to complete my projects but time is a rare commodity these days!
I still have the SMC, caliper rebuilds, brake system flush, thermostat & coolant change, oil change and I think I’m going to go ahead and replace the CSC as well.
Following the forum maintenance list as well as Larry’s suggested list. I should be ready for miles of smiles before I have to do anything else…. unless I link up with sadlsor, I think he rides a couple of thousand miles just to warmup his bike!

Fixed some shoddy wiring from a previous owner (bolt/nut connector covered with duct tape - positive feed direct from battery without fuse sitting on fuel tank).....

Just a plain old bolt with a flat head slot cut into it and a nut.
The 2 connector wires to the fuses had ring terminals on it but the wire from the battery was just sandwiched in there complete with the straggly copper hairs sticking out.

Took her for her MOT (annual UK test of roadworthyness) and service. Passed with flying colours, no advisories or problems, not bad for 32 years old and 160,000 miles (nearly all pulling a sidecar). As I take the sidecar off for the MOT I then had the joys of putting it back on this afternoon

Went to workshop and did an overhaul of the fork again, fixing the leakage after an accident with brake rotor lock. Going to start 4K km local trip tomorrow)

Nice but pricey. I've used standard blocks like these in small project boxes as they didn't have a cover for the screw terminal. Those look nice with the cover.

I've also though about using some Wago connectors if they meet the requirements for stranded wire and the gauge.

Mounted the 180/55/17 with 1/2" to spare on the driveshaft side...now to scrub it in and see how it handles...
