What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

I'm not a Dr., but I can relate my experience. In my case the impingement point was through my SI joint, not the spine. I did stretches and it helped a lot. I did an aggresive seated pigeon pose. Ths link expresses it better than I could. When I first started I could feel the joint open up and an immediate decrease in symptopms. After doing them many times the effect was less dramatic. Eventually my 100 crunches 5 days a week caused it to almost go away. I surmise stronger abdominal muscles stabalized everything. My riding back pain went away too.

I would go see a good physical therapist rather than suffer.

I also ride with a kidney belt for a little extra support in my lower back and find that this helps. Also useful when working on the bike at all sorts of strange angles!

Finished servicing bike and started to replace the Tupperware when I somehow tweaked my back. Dr says it sciatica, can hardly walk with out pain. Its been 9 days now. How long does it take for this system to calm down. Getting anxious to get back out there. This is the best time of year to ride in the Ozarks.
Frustrating..
If it is sciatica it can be a few days, a month, one thing's for sure if you've had it once you'll have it again....and again. Exercise is the answer and maybe those god awful anti-inflammatories. Look on the net for a suitable exercise regime, it'll be mainly gentle stretching. Just don't stop when the pain goes away. Eric's right the pain can be pretty bad. Good luck. There are also deep muscle control exercises which help greatly with ongoing spinal stability but these would be best learnt from a professional.
Upt'North.

Another potential cause could be the camber in the road. Riding on the right side here in the U.S., the road is usually cambered down to the right, which may cause more wearing of the tire on the left.
I guess the camber may be greater on other places. The camber didn't change after my wheel bearings were replaced:) I've ridden in VA, DC, MD, WV, and KY since my bearings were done and still no more odd left side wear. And who doesn't lean when exiting the interstate. Most of the exits from I95 are loops...at least on my section of it..

We have quite a few cloverleafs in my area as well, all of which are right turns of course, which can be taken at a relatively high rate of speed. That being said, the vast majority of interstate exits are not cloverleafs and hardly require a lean to exit, pretty much like changing lanes, only more gradual.

I've found alot of spilled diesel fuel on most of the On/Off ramps in my new haunt so far.....I do miss the Pacific Coast Highway, Redwoods, and Ocean....
Oh yeah, and the steady flow of ST's over to my place....Seems either nobody owns them here in the desert, or if they do, they don't spend any time riding them here. :shrug2:

No, Mike, just has to take his favorite routes in the reverse direction, half the time, to even the wear and as a plus he will get to see what's on the other side of the road........... ;)

Put a new front tire ,on the Honda ST, new oil and filter, changed the clutch and brake fluid. I should be good for a while now.

Ordered a set of valve shims from fleabay so I can check my valve clearance and adjust them if necessary. Not sure if previous owners did this so will check them and the cambelt as now on 51,000 miles.

Had a meeting further away than my normal work place. Took the ST. This morning was 34 degrees, but nice. Took the back roads on the way home and 68 degrees. About 120 miles round trip. Nice day.

I probably should have done this years ago but I finally got around to taking apart the turn-signal switch, cleaning it up and then lubricating it. Boy it just works like buttah now. Highly recommended. For a little guidance you can view this for some helpful pointers...

Set out to fix my new coolant leak after I replaced my water pump gasket, thermostat, and thermostat gasket. Was leaking consistently after I did the work. Air temp was in the low 50s when I did the work a d initial startup and leak. I ordered a bunch of parts from Partzilla.com for the next couple years worth of maintenance. Parts arrived yesterday. I started her up this morning when it was 43°. No leak. I ran it to 3 bars and about 15 minutes after that...revved engine to make sure it was getting max pressure. Still no leak. I guess it just sealed itself? I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm not sad that the leak fixed itself. I did take a couple hour ride on a 70° day a week ago and there was no leak, even on startup, but I just figured that was because it was already pretty warm out. Glad its not leaking at cold temps either.

Lol, went to cover my ST just now and saw something loose on the muffler. One of the bolts sheared off from the right side exhaust collar:( Upon closer inspection, it appears these may be original to the bike...at 98k miles[emoji849] wish I would've noticed before I ordered my last shipment from partzilla. Oh well, guess I'll order all 3 collars.....
