What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

The yellow (and purple) blocks do separate, but they're very tight.

Be careful, I'm 99% sure that the yellow block behind the throttle bodies is a +12V block, and the purple block is the ground block...
I see now that the wires going to that red/purple block are green! I expected the yellow one to be ground because it looks the same as the one at the front. Mr Cock-Up was lying in wait for me there. Thanks Matt, good catch! :D

Ordered my first set of PR5s. The rear is coming from Chapmoto and the front from tripleclampmoto in Canada. Hopefully, there’s no boarder dispute.

Rode 350 miles Saturday to New Bern, NC for lunch and back.

I utilized an electric stapler plastic bumper repair kit on a broken mirror cover that was a result of a parking lot tip over.
It’s easy to use and the repair is strong because of the serpentine staples. Will need to body fill the cracks and sand of course before painting.

:)Finally washed my motorcycle to get rid of the bugs from my 850 mile ride to eat trip last week. Only to leave tomorrow on another rte trip and get the bike dirty, I know doesn't make sense right? I just like a clean cycle.

Wow - that's some nasty corrosion! Penalty for living by the beach! haha Maybe the one drawback. We have our winter salt though on the roads which is plenty bad.

Last night I remove the old bungled-up grips and installed new ones. And.. realized that there is two different sizes! One larger and one smaller ... guess which one I put on the throttle side? Yep - wrestled with it and got it on then went to the other side and realized I had put the wrong one on. So wrestled it off, and put them on the correct sides, which was much easier! Also removed the throttle lock / cruise control for now - until I get more used to the bike. Lastly I removed the baffles from the new Delkevic mufflers. Sounds cool but I haven't ridden it yet. Waiting on a couple clamps of the correct size.

So, I'm in process of changing all the fluids on my 06 St1300 with 9500 mikes on it. Changing due to age not miles. One question: What were they thinking? You cant fit a traditional drain pan under it to remove the filter, it leaks over the center stand...grrrrr.

Ok gripe over, otherwise I am SOOO impressed by this bike and how it handles.

Took the ferry from Tallinn, Estonia across the Baltic Sea to Helsinki, Finland this morning. A short ride, 2 hours, the sea was like glass, not even a ripple on it.

Things suddenly got very expensive when going from Estonia to Finland. Gasoline costs USD $8.70 per US gallon here in Finland- no wonder everyone is driving electric cars. If only they could figure out a way to make gasoline from trees...

Helsinki is at about the same latitude as Anchorage, Alaska. Much to my surprise, it is quite hot here today - 27°C, which is equal to 80° American. My plan is to ride north around the top of the Gulf of Bothnia and then south through Sweden. That route will take me to just a few miles south of the Arctic Circle (66° North Latitude), which is considerably further north than Fairbanks, Alaska or Frobisher Bay, NWT.

No need to move bike to the sidestand....
No thanks. Not even worth the effort of cleaning an additional piece of oily equipment afterwards to me.
Side-stand, change filter, one pan, one piece of equipment to clean up, no fuss no mess.

All the oil goes in one drain pan, and wiping off my valvoline oil funnel is not a lot of work.
When your working on a table lift (without wings) this is much faster and easier than trying to move a bike around.
When your changing oil on multiple bikes, it’s much less effort with the bike in one position.
For folks who only do one bike, it does not matter much, whatever works for you, and makes you happy.
Your bike will appreciate the oil change.
Ride safe.

I didn't work on the bikes directly, but I met up with Slydynbye and learned a lot during the conversation. I came away from his garage with a top box and two different narrow seats.
Can't wait to get back home and put together a list of things to do and bits to buy.
A great day, in spite of the fact that not a single foot of distance was ridden!

I got a brand new Helibar handlebar riser version 3.2 with the Ram ball installed last night. Install took less than a hour and no issues with the instructions they sent. Just took it in to work today and what a difference in riding position it makes!

This weekend I’ve got a new front wheel bearing to install. I should have done it a month ago when I had the wheel off for new tires but that’s how it goes some days.

Mounted new tires and started the clutch slave replacement. Old is off, old gasket cleaned off and surface smoothed with 600 grit. I couldn’t get the banjo bolt to start so I stopped and will try again today. The fowl pins were rusted in place. The lower one was easy to grab with a pair of pliers. The upper had to be removed with an easy out.
I also removed the shift linkage to clean and lube the joints.0095B8EC-2699-4DCD-BEA2-B69A7FBE2C6D.jpegA45BC8D1-BBC8-4A09-990E-87990ED500EE.jpeg

Changed out my first set of tires this weekend. Built a basic change stand and got a balancer from Harbor Freight on sale for $40. It went pretty well.
Also, serviced the drive spline and installed a Bike Quip inner fender extender.

Also, loving working with the bike on a table, what a difference!
