What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

STacy took her rider meandering the back roads down to Enumclaw with the brief thought she'd ride Chinook Pass before it closed for the winter. 'Cuz of climate change, she missed her opportunity... :doh1:

got out for an hour or so after work just around the tri cities, dark but first dry asphalt in a couple weeks, 6 C. tomorrow and the weekend lots of rain, that might be it, time to take things apart, and wait for parts.

Went looking for a good scenic route south of Washington DC. No such luck. The massive, sprawling metropolis won again. Over two hours and almost 100 miles I was on someones bumper or in stop and go traffic. Not amazing.

But I was still riding… so…

A couple hours this am around the lower mainland before the rain, Remembrance day; saw a few military vehicle convoys and a four plane flyover in close formation; managed to see my friend Lawrence's '65 Beaumont convertible project after paint / before the new top. Another great job, says it's his last one.

White with black interior, will have to get that Pontiac paint code, starts with an E.

rode it to work for the first time since getting it. 45 miles (there and back), dark when I left and dark when I came home. Thin, she threaded between cars well (California), powerful, had guts at low/mid RPM, and the front light could use a few more lumens. Glad the brakes work (just redid them) and glad the suspension felt good (just did that too). Hope it is first of many fun trips.

Rode up to kitt peak, casa grande ruins, Why, Ajo, and the Tom mix memorial before heading back to Tucson.
Helped a stranded rider who was out of gas.
I always carry 3 feet of tubing under the seat.

I started work on the winter bike. Replacing pistons seals, pads, and a lot of cleaning last winter’s salt assault.
This is the first work on the lift in the new spa.

The former spa is a parking and storage depot. I would pack the bikes in like sardines but easier to park them facing the same direction.

Finished up replacing all the coolant hoses, new vacuum lines on the throttle bodies, and installed Wilbers rear shock. Tomorrow I'm a parts washer. The heavy check continues...

That looks like what I should be doing.
Did a 110/80-18 mount easily?
Yes, it did. But to be clear I bought this set and had them installed at my local Honda dealer. He is a riding buddy and I wanted a evaluation of the bike. I had just bought it a couple of weeks ago (yeah, after I bought it) but I'm planning a trip so while I usually do my own work ... I sprung for the "once over".
I have these same Avons on other bikes and they are not trouble makers to put on.

Over the last couple of nights I've installed a voltmeter and switch and finished detailing the bike ending with derusting the footpeg hardware. I threw in a picture of my Amazon sourced windscreen attachment - blast hits above eyebrow level and eliminates most wind noise. Amost forgot to mention custom cut rubber cushions for my knees.

Avon TraiRider
I seriously doubt that tire is rated for the weight of the ST.
I would not be surprised if you burn that off in 4K miles or so.
Do let us know how it does.
Normally the tires rated for these bikes are GT rated.

Yeah, that was on my mind as well. I checked with Avon and the weight is not a problem and their "mileage prediction" is 7000 -9000 miles. That is also what I've been getting on my DL1000A (used as a canyon bender). He pointed out their other tires which get more mileage. But 'm ok with 7-9K. I've never been overly concerned about getting the last drop out of my tires. If your estimate of 4000 turns out to be right, I'll just have to eat the mistake. I live and ride in a 90/10 world here in Northern California. My intended first trip is to Cape Canaveral, FL via a Southern route. So we'll see. And yes, I'll let you know.
As an aside, I manage my motorcycle tire budget by driving a 20 year old pickup truck;).

You'll be changing the tires either half way to Florida, or in Florida, before your return trip home.
I don't think those tires will hold up to the heat of highway driving very long on your ST.
Enjoy your trip though, and be sure to post pictures.
