What did you do to / ride to with your Beemer today?

Just keeping them all clean and gassed. Stumbled into a leak. Does anyone know what can cause this and a simple remedy? I didn’t want to restart it yet.

Hard to tell from the photo but is that rubber hose secured by the hose clamp swelled and/or distorted at the fitting? Send the last 7 characters/digits of your VIN to isolate the exact parts depiction.

Thanks Dave, ZE 46910
It was the smaller one on top, the clamp was loose? The hose worked itself up above the top extrusion. I’m going to need to do some refurbishment to this one.

That sounds reasonable. I use Max (Max Stratton BMW) BMW parts fiche illustrations for reference and to order parts. BMWs are small production volume machines and often there are part revisions during a model year or from year to year.

Briones Overlook Staging Area stop at Briones Reservoir while taking the back roads home from a run to Cycle Gear to make a return. Pretty warm when you get away from the coast, but at least it's dry.

Well, went to one the Harley things at a local. dealer. It is Rally week here in the Milwaukee. Viewed many of the costumes that are worn. No ATGATT here. No pics. Not appropriate for the site. Though I still can’t unsee the 70ish year old lady at Harley’s 100th in assless chaps. Interesting though one guy came up to the wife and I and said we had the best bike there.

Tire is holding air.
Trying to find a shop that specializes in MC rim repair in northern Los Angeles County.
Over the years I've "repaired" at least 3 of those BMW wheels myself with a rubber mallet and a piece of wood; never had a problem with my self repaired wheels.

R1200RT, mounted rear tire, Michelin road 6 GT.
Cleaned & lubed rear brake caliper.

I’m with you on the pirellis , I lost track of how many sets I’ve went through, my mileage on them 7k to 8k on the rear and always changed the front at the same time. When I got the bike it had new pr2 which got me 11k next set was pr3 but the front end didn’t feel right, so I went though the front end , fork seals bushing steering bearings still wasn’t right after 3k miles , planing a long trip new pr4 were installed but at 60 to 75 miles per hour sometimes you could feel rear of bike wasn’t right, bike was in the shop for two weeks they checked everything finally they took the rear Michelin tire off and put my first pirelli angel gt on problem solved.

Still not thrilled with the Michelin 6's. I can't point to anything specific, but riding in the rain today I never felt planted. It is just a little squirrelly at times and I don't know why. Bottom line is that when these wear out I'll be going back to the Pirelli's.

For what its worth, I put Bridgestone T32s on my BMW and if they last, they will be my go to tire in the future. Quiet. Excellent handling on dry roads (which I'd expect), but also they performed excellently on roads that had just received a little bit of rain after being dry for over a month. In other words, before the oil had washed away.

mounted a T 32 gt on 2004 honda st1300 Rode to RTE, Forksville, Pa. Have 400 miles on tire, just the rear tire that is. Good solid feel in turns, I 80 40 miles grooved cement. Really good, feel, no swimming around, same with passing trucks. I would buy tires again. Have front T 32, to be mounted, when Conti, wears out.

Not liking what I've been reading about Michelin road 6 GT tires. Bike is still on lift. R1200RT, 2015

I loved my Conti Road Attack 3s. And my last set lasted over 11,000 miles on a F800GT. But the T32s feel really good, and it isn't just that I put on new tires. I have two sets of wheels that I rotate so there's always a set that's fresh for a long trip. My other set are the Contis.

We look for things like longevity, and wet weather traction, but I'll add the feel when the bike falls into a corner is important as well. The T32s put a smile on my face.

I decided to tend to the transmission and final drive of my GS to potentially do the first service of these units ever at 26k. They were both really easy and the splines were not rusted at all, although there really wasn't much moly lube on them and what was there had dried out. Pretty much like the ST, everything is straight-forward and makes sense, although it's interesting how BMW thinks compared to Honda. No idea what this would cost for a shop to do, but it's another task the average guy could do.
