Any thoughts on these two offerings?

I only have experience with the bygdawgs. They are designed not to interfere with passenger so you don't have to use passenger footpeg lowerers (unless you want). I think (???) that bygdawgs are solid steel instead of tubing, which lets them be slimmer and less visually apparent. I know this is bygdawg's only gig, so making them himself they come in a little higher priced I think.

What are other differences?

Since Jay's saved my :butt1: in January I must and will highly recommend them. I'm sure if it wasn't for those bars my bike and myself would have been totaled. Thanks Jay:bow1:

I have to admit to liking the beefy look of the Police style bars but obviously there's the issue with them interfering the the passenger's feet. With that in mind, I would probably go with Bygdawg's.

There are 3 tip over bars on the market:

1 - ST1300P.com sells the police bars (chrome or black)
- eliminates passenger pegs

2 - Bygdawgs (black only)
- keep passenger pegs but not all passengers care for the footing

3 - MCL's (black only)
- keep passenger pegs but not all passengers care for the footing

For those that have passenger peg issues different foot pegs can be used or the MCL peg lowers can be used.

My personal preference was the police bars, really liked them in chrome. The thicker bars also reminded me of the wing crash bars.

No offense to bygdawg or MCL for I prefer the st1300p.com bars...

There's also at least 2 others I know of that are working on tip over bar designs but not sure when they will hit the market...

Bygdawgs bars saved my bacon when I had my get off so I have to give him the seal of approval. Since I have not used or seen the other two types yet I will reserve judgement. I know the other MCL products I have are top notch (raiser plate, bat wings)

Bygdawg doesn't make them all by himself. He uses "union workers" according to previous posts on the subject.

Was that the first wreck, or the second wreck, they helped you with, Terry? :D:D:D

Neither...

firstest Wreck??? Connie,,, where I rode 100 feet in the back seat of a Cadillac outside Green bay after a game...

2nd wreck was just before Jay was shipping his bars...

You can go back and read where I was bagering Jay to ship me his first set he makes... Course,,, it would not have helped since the bike flipped and 7 times,,, I flipped 8...

I have the police bars (black) from ST1300.com, (eliminates passenger pegs) and bought them before the MCL. DO NOT wish to test them! SO didn't ride then, now that may change.

I have the MCL bars. Excellent fit and finish. I believe all three of the bars mentioned would do exactly what they were designed to do well.

Man, when you wreck, you wreck. Shouldn't be surprised.....when you party, you party!! :D

Hi Steve,
Do you have any photos of the GW bars mounted. I had a 2005 GW and I think I remember them being mounted flat not vertical to the ground. Our bolts might work as they are longer because we include the stand off spacers to keep the TOB plates from touching the casting.

It looks to me but I may be wrong and per my wife that is often, that the MCL lowering brackets do in fact give the passanger more foot room but at the cost of the pilots foot room. Can anyone with these fitted tell me I am wrong.

On the driver losing foot room:
I know that I am a bit biased but also if it isn't comfortable I don't leave it on my own bike. I have 3 bikes and all have passenger foot peg lowering brackets on them. My girlfriend that I ride with wears a womens 10 and I wear a size 14 and we have no problem with distance rides. The only negative factor is when I take my feet off to put them on the ground her toes are in the way but she now knows to just move her feet. Not sure where she moves them but she does.

Of the farkles we sell for the ST the passenger lowering brackets are right up there.

I tried a set and after the a few hundred miles to the classifieds they returned , nice product but not for everyone. The banging of feet at every start and stop and whenever I moved onto the balls of my feet was not exceptable. Well made but didn't work for us .

I received my Bygdawg's tip over bars this week, and waited until this evening to put them on. I brewed a pot of coffee, turned on the heater in the garage, set up a table and tools expecting to spend some time at it.

WHAT THE HECK!!!

In less than ten minutes the Bygdawg bars were on the Black Beauty, and they look like they came on the STeed from the factory--great lines!

The bars came with everything needed to mount them. And even thought the instructions called for removal of the bags, mine went on easily without momma's help. I couldn't be more pleased.
