Post RideForCambodia...SEA ride continues

Danny, I heard the banging but had no desire to investigate. I figured it was a local,,, no idea it could'a been one of us. Sounds like the action doesn't start around here 'til after midnight. :D

Did you come across the Green Wing Honda shop while you were exploring the back streets? Still wanna get a good look at the new CBR-500.

I got caught twice in the rain yesterday. The second one, about 9PM, was a gully washer t-storm. The roads will be clean today. Here's a pic from the earlier shower as I was walking back from the BIG shopping mall after getting my I-Phone 3GS fixed. Crack in the touch screen was fixed with a New LED/Touch screen, $60, 4 hours. :D

Wow Danny, sounds like you gone out at the back street roaming around like a Alley Cat and found yourself Disco-tech club, nightlight adventure is A must in Thailand :D

Ya, we fought over that pink bike but George won. ;)

I'm at the Sumit Hotel now. I got back from a late walk around town and the gate to the RiderCorner was locked so I climbed over it only to find the inner door to the rooms was also locked. I tryed banging on the door for twenty minutes but the rooms are two high and far I guess. Tried a few more things includeing calling the guys on skype but it was after midnight and for one reason or another, no one answered. Thought of sleeping on the pool table, wouldn't be the first time, but without being drunk it's just not the same.
The last few hotels had beds we commented "It's like sleeping on a pool table.
I climbed back over the sharp tipped gate to either walk the Chiang Mai alleys all night or find a room. Most hotels were locked up solid for the night or were "No room at the inn"
I nailed the Sumit for 300 Baht ($10 and yes the shower head points directly at the toilet but not much chance it'll get wet with water pressure like this) I wasn't yet sleepy and with no TV or WiFi in the room, I returned to the streets to wander on.
Wasn't long before I found myself in a sea of dressed to kill yunguns at an open air disco club district gyrating to overcranked headbanger music, the stuff I remember from the eighties at clubs like CBGB's.
Quick survey, about as many Farang as Thai in the mix and plenty of intermingling and heavy petting.
I enjoyed a bit of late night site seeing. Wish I had a toothbrush. I used to carry one to clubs...ya never know. :)
Gunite.

...oh jeezz, this bed is like sleeping on a pool table with a fitted sheet.

It's only a 7 minute walk back to the RiderCorner Guesthouse from my pool table bed at the Sumit, but I saw so much stuff that needed more attention that it must have been near an hour. One farang fellow out of a shop said to me as I passed "Staten Island?" We met him at the Scooter rental. He introduced me to his Thai gal who he said was about to throw him out. He was cool, understood all our punchlines, laughed, added a few of her own.

Now that I'm back, I hear that George and Joe want to check the accuracy of my disco district post tonight. That'll require a nap before hand on all our parts since it doesn't start heating up until midnight.

No disco for me. Danny went out on his own, but Joe and I came back to Riders Corner after dinner, had a beer, and went to bed. I still have 3 weeks pics to catch up on, didn't need to be out taking more. Maybe Danny got some.

The party was standard headbanger fare with the added attraction of a fire handling acrobatic troup. The light would not allow a photo but I got a pretty good video. Can't link a video on TapaTalk though, appologies.
Yesterday was cool up on the mountain just west of town. Here are some pics. Some kids on a motorless go cart.

A fellow demonstrated the hardness of these "diamonds" and tried to sell 1/2 or one carat stones for a few hundred USD. We all thought it looked like these stones were genuine after we saw them through a loupe.
Still no sale here.

We moved on to the farm.

Then the local tea tradition

Then we pose with a a Thai actress whose name escapes us, but no less a thrill for everyone within the ten meter radius.

I may have annoyed the staff entourage by jumping into this shot. Everyone else looks happy though, so all is good.

Danny, I was thinking that last picture would be George up there singing with the band!! :D

Looks like a great time!

One of the diffs between me 'n Danny: I can sing. :D

Good day today, relaxed, 2-hour massage, little ride around town before returning our scoots. Found a little logger work going on on a paved path along the river. Back at Rider's Corner now for the BBQ before heading to the airport and Phuket at 9.

Also met Greg Frazier here, he's in for the BBQ. Look him up on any LD Rider forum, 5 times around the world and just ready to start #6.

Lots of other folks here, including 4 guys from Montana, all old high school buddies who ride somewhere together every year.

Next time you hear from us, we'll be in Patong, Phuket, Thailand.

Happy trails. :D

Then somewhere in the Chiang Mai International Airport there was this scene. Still can't figure why there wasn't a few more of the crowd snapping this Russian gal. I asked if I could take the shot and she said "You need a Thai girl here" I looked around and found none so I told her to make Thai eyes for the picture.

Then about 15 minutes later after getting our luggage checked, these handsome guys made these Orchids look good.

Hey guys, glad the trip is continuing on with lots of fun and adventure! Had a great time catching up with the thread and checking out all the pictures. Keep 'em coming!

George's SPOT shows you walking the beaches over in Pa Tong. The satellite view shows a bunch of dark spots on the beach. Are those huts or something???

Fali, we had a great Mutton Vindaloo the other evening in Chiang Mai. I don't usually go for Mutton, but I'd do this again in an instant.

Had Iranian for dinner tonight, not nearly as good and cost 3 X more.

Scooter, I don't have access to Google Earth so can't say. Only thing we see on the beach is typical of any beach resort area.

You can go down to street-view.. looks like tons of umbrellas.
