Old Enough To Remember?

Remembring one Timex add were they broke the watch when the had a Elephant stand on it.
My favorite was broadcast live periodically through the show, set up to look like it was performed in an industrial lab of some sort but it was clearly back stage. Boat motor mounted to a large glass water tank. The watch was strapped to one blade and a guy wearing a white lab coat fired it up and twisted the throttle. It threw water all over the set and sent the watch into nowhereland. When they returned to the commercial later in the show, they found the watch, with a butchered up band and cracked crystal, but it was...guess what?....still ticking.

Those were the days of fastening Bic ballpoint pens to ice skates, right?

As if Americans ever cared about spending money for products that really last.

Not so much today.

"My 64in flat screen TV isn't working. No biggie. Haul it to the curb, and I'll just buy a new one. It lasted 9 months, time to replace it anyway."

We used to get ours in the Sunday paper for the whole week. It fit in a small section. Did not have 1000 channels with most replaying old sports shows

Just noticed how bad it used to be when I heard the songs I played on the radio-8 track-cassette during commercials. Please help me, heard some in an elevator.
Just how old am I? Do I want to know?
